No_Neck 0 Posted November 4, 2006 Share Posted November 4, 2006 New apartment and I have one of these.I just turned it on for the first time for the year and is making all sorts of hissing and steaming noise as well as smelling like burning plastic (I know there is nothing near it that is melting). Is it just something that happens when it is turned on for the first time every year?Should I call someone or waiting it out I don't have any experience with any of these Link to post Share on other sites

It would stop working completely, and I had supress this little notch on the bottom where the pipe is which would release water while you held it down. And every so often I had to empty out like a gallon of water from it before it would work again. I have no idea why that is or if it will ever apply to you.
