rog 0
1) Buy or build a hand converter and host it on this site. 2) Make conversion a HARD requirement for posting. No conversion, post gets removed. (cant impose 2 until we do 1)3) Male omission of results a HARD requirement for posting.4) Make Actuary (and a few other format Nazis) moderators whose only mandate is to reject on the basis of hand converted, and results not show. James D 0
Sounds like a sensible idea to have a hand converter, in the strat forum. One thing though, I'm sure that if Actuary or any other 'Format Nazis' as you say, have any lives away from this forum then they will not appreciate being made to review every post... I still think that job should still be with the moderators. But the converter is a good idea.

I still think that job should still be with the moderators.Actuary already does it. He rejects posts with scathing sarcasm. A delete button would probably actually save him time, and clean the forums up a lot. I'm not talking about running all posts through him. I'm talking about giving some respected forum members the ability to remove posts that dont meet the format guidelines. As for the converter, I suggested a long time ago that we should host a converter tool here if we're going to beat on people about using one. In fact, we should integrate it into our forum software. I dont know how extensible our forum software is, but if we had [hand][/hand] tags that converted the contents in between, then this forum would be light-years ahead of competitors.I'd like to publicize my desire to mod strat forums, with respect to my conversion/results nazism.heh heh...I had you in mind for this if this idea gets traction. James D 0
Ok, that's cool then... If people wanna do it then yeah, I'm all for it, because it makes sense. Was just thinking about them really. There has been times when I have wanted to post a few hands here before and didn't, because I know that it's not appreciated without being converted.Lets make it happen then! rog 0
To make this happen, we need the support and assistence of the site administration. I'll poke around and see if I can figure out who needs to be involved.

I'll poke around and see if I can figure out who needs to be involved.PM goverantor. Most of the converters I've seen are based off of one written by a guy from 2+2. If we could get access to that it should be pretty easy to update it/customize it and host it here.[hand] tags that automatically convert sounds like a good idea but almost every hand needs to be converted after it's edited so that action stops at the critical decision. A "should I push this river" question isn't helpful if we see you pushed the river and villain called (even if the results aren't shown). The best solution for threads that don't comply is to lock them but allow the OP to edit their post to make it compliant. That way if you want feedback you MUST convert and if you're new/don't know the policy you'd have a chance to fix it.#1 way to improve stat - DN had this idea way back - get pros to participate. Whether DN or e-dog or lesser know pros or guys like steve7stud or well respected members like BKice, Looshle, etc. A rating/feedback system where you could give a poster points for a good strat response or subtract points for a lame-assed comment might work too though it'd have to be integrated with the forum. aucu 3
FTR hand converter is damn easy to use. I convert all my hands except those posted durring play because I don't have the time. Don't think we need anything like a clamp down here that will only scare noobs away who need the help more.
Actuary 3
If you want to do you part, quit replying to unconverted hands or hands with results. Simple.*************FTR converter is very simple. It's even simple to do a hand by hand.Just delete names (courtesy)Replace with posions.Include Stacks.BetsAnd Give pot size at each Street5 min Topsand Zach is right, I have no life.at least not from 10-7 Mon - Fri.Hopefully, that changes sooner than later. KDawgCometh 2
the onus is really on the posters. I don't get why people get pissy about actuary telling them something that they don't like, the fact is when you post your hand, people are doing you a favor by replying to it and giving you advice, so the least that people can do is convert their hands so that they can get better advice
Actuary 3
Keith, your reply echoes mine above as well.If we refuse to help, they will start convertingWe're not too far removed from this thread:"May I suggest we hire one more moderator whose sole pupose is to convert our hands. thank you. Sometimes the converter is broken, or I'm in the middle of a tourney, or 6 tabling, and can't get to it right away."
steve7stud 0
I think that having a mod for this section is a good idea. As far as posting in strat, or responding to threads. I personally have learned that books like sshe are teaching people to play in a different fashion than I normally would. So my advice would not neccessarily be the best. It would be better to find a winning 5-10 lhe player to give advice on lower limits, as opposed to a winning higher limit player imo.
Actuary 3
as far as limit...Screech left.Abba's good.little arrogant and condescending..but that just makes him more loveable.. in a "I want to stab him" kinda way.PP24 would be nice; except he probably can't teach us his 6th sense reading ability. There are still a ton of knowledgeable, winning players posting in each strategy sub forum. It's just they aren't as revered as Smash or WRTO, etc.

Zach6668 513
Ok. Here's my ideas. Most of these have nothing to do with moderators. But I'm putting them anyways. The way the forums are divided, it's pretty nice, although I'd make a couple slight changes.Poker Strategy Forum Subforums:- General Strategy- Daniel on Strategy- Poker Quiz- Tournament Poker- Full Ring NL Hold'em- Short Handed NL Hold'em- Full Ring Limit Hold'em- Short Handed Limit Hold'em- Omaha Hi- Omaha Hi-Lo- Stud/Stud 8/Razz- Draw Games / Other Poker Games***********I've added SHNL, and changed TD to Draw Games. Also, I never check Daniel on Strat, or Poker Quiz, do these still have a use? I have no idea.We also need to make the function of each forum clear, and get rid of the redundancy, ie, the SH forum stating to post LHE and NL hands in the lobby, but in reality we use it for SH LHE only. Similar to Micro where it doesn't state one or the other very clearly to some.***********I think each forum should have a CLEARLY labelled sticky with the posting rules. Right now, some of them have random threads made by the random posters. We should also, either clearly put in this thread, or a seperate thread, links and instructions to the converters. This is very important, IMO, and it should be standard throughout each forum.***********I think it would be interesting to have a stickied monthly "newsletter" post or something like that where we link to the best posts of the month, similarly to what they do at 2p2. I don't know if we have the volume to support this, at the moment, but I think it would be a good idea, at some point.***********I'm also all for stickying the most important threads in each forum, ie NOFX PUNK's Omaha Strat, Aseem's O8 beginner's guide, and Therrin's Stars 180-man guide.***********I would like to see a few more people have the ability to lock/delete/move posts that are either accidentaly posted in the wrong forum, or spam, etc. I nominate myself for that, but that's up to admin/mods, etc. if they feel it's necessarily. I have no problem with the job KDawg and DNA do, but it wouldn't hurt to just have another one or two who can do this strictly in strat, imo.***********Another idea is to compile a list of FAQ's for some of the more frequented forums. Ie, should I fold AA preflop if 9 players go all in, etc. Meh, just an idea.***********I also say we force Econ_Tim, Screech, WRTO, IceMan, etc back to post and get our forums a bit more mid-high stakes action, lol.***********That's about all I can think of for now, if I have any other dreams, I'll let you guys know. Thanks for listening.- Zach ***EDIT - I decided to keep this list above current with the posts in the rest of the thread, so I've removed the Micro LHE board, and changed Draw to Draw/Other Games. Also, with respect to the Micro forum. It's a good idea, but we don't get enough traffic to warrant splitting them up, at this point, IMO. If one day, the traffic skyrockets here, ala 2p2, then we should quickly add both micro NL and LHE forums.
