Actuary 3
I resent this. I'm the converter nazi.uh. you slack during the day sometimesdont' mind Simo, he is grumpyi dont really care what he had. is this always a fold?yes. It's always a fold given the odds you were getting and the stack ratios.Small pairs are generally horrible calling all in hands. They are almost never a big fav and are often dominated. Abbaddabba 0
If he had like one or two fewer blinds and there were ante's involved, it's worth considering.
James D 0
Small pairs are generally horrible calling all in hands. They are almost never a big fav and are often dominated. You gonna tell that to Doyle Brunson? Doyle's 33 all in callI do agree though, even though it's most likely just a short stack desperation push from the small blind... haven't quite got enough invested in the pot to make this an obvious call. However, there are probably even some pros that would justify calling here, if they are playing for the win, due to the fact that they would still have a healthy chip stack if they lose what is most likely a coin flip situation. Actuary 3
Good fold.Oh, and convert the hand and delete the results before Actuary gets here.I just read this closely enough to see it's a BvB and w fold prefloplol... I missed that you were making a joke**************and James:Doyle was 3-handed and had an M=8prize strucutre also likely relevant
James D 0
and James:Doyle was 3-handed and had an M=8prize strucutre also likely relevantThe way I see it, the OP here was actually 'heads up' - everyone having folded to the small blind - therefore, seeing as it was only one sixth of his stack to call, I was just pointing out that there could be an argument for calling, in order to eliminate a player, whilst not damaging your stack too much.I am assuming (I don't know why, just get the feeling), that this is a single table tournament. Therefore, there is a school of thought that it is sometimes best to take any small edge early on in order to build up your chip count... especially when it will not hurt you too much. But of course, I totally recognize that there is a strong argument for folding, and that most 'tight/solid' players would. James D 0
I really don't think that would be the proper mentality in an STT...I do...Without being reckless, if it's possible to get chips early, especially without risking too much of your stack, then I think this sets you up in a good position to be able to take control of the table more effectively. If you give away too many opportunities, then you run the risk of becoming 'card-dependent', not being able to steal blinds etc later, with your bigger stack. If your aim is not to accumulate chips early, you can almost be sure that you will have to put your whole tourney life at risk at some point anyway, in one big coin flip usually, and become a bit of a 'nit' on the bubble - a situation I hate getting into. I'm not advocating throwing your chips around excessively loosely, but a large chip stack in a tournament situation is so important.(Of course, at certain times, it would be correct to tighten up... if you find yourself at a super agressive table, which can happen, then wait for bigger hands - basically play opposite to the table)But if you're going for a high money finish, then accumulating chips early is very important. Zach6668 513
Well, I understand exactly where you are coming from here James, and what you are saying, but your primary goal in an STT should be to make the money, not first place.
Sluggo 0
The pusher only has 7 big blinds. From a purely EV perspective, this is a call, barring any specific read.
AcesUp46 0
I would chime in and say that this is a fold not because of the fact that you're likely dominated when calling an all-in, but rather due to the stack size. With 3.4K, OP can exert pressure on everyone else at the table except for Mathias who has him covered by a bit. If he calls and wins, he gets up to 4.1K and is still in roughly the same spot as before since chip leader still has him covered. Thus, without any reads, I'd fold this hand for the reason of maintaining the power of my stack.
