Courtsdad 0
I am surprised that those of you who scream about your "rights" being stripped away havent latched onto this one.http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=2494843&page=1And just in case you think its only happening here.....http://www.cbc.ca/consumer/story/2006/10/3...c-transfat.htmlIn 2004, Health Canada appointed a task force to investigate finding alternatives to trans fats. Pat Martin, an NDP MP who passed a 2004 motion asking Parliament to enact an all-encompassing trans fat ban, criticized Health Canada for not acting on the task force's report. He said public demand is overwhelming and industry has shown a willingness to change.Martin dismissed critics who say the government shouldn't intervene in the trans fat debate."Nobody is saying that you can't have your doughnuts or your french fries. All we're saying is don't put poison in our food," he told CBC.So now the government is telling you what to eat. No outrage? I guess its because Bush isnt behind it.And here I thought a Liberal city like NY would be backing everyones right to do whatever they please ( food, drink, POKER)....... Guess some of you may have misplaced your faith.

Courtsdad 0
Wrong website for this trolling, OP.Not really. There have been long discussions about how people rights have been taken away (online gambling) and how a certain group of people would be the saviors of us all. I am just curious why no one latched onto this to discuss someone restricting the ingredients in your food.
PhilIvey 0
Some wise guy came up to me once and tried to take away my rights, when he thought I wasn't looking...I said to him.. 'Get outta here, you schmock!!! You ain't taking away my rights. You try any of that $$I$ again and I'mma gonna beat yo a@@!!!!'But he took them anyway, when I wasn't looking again. timwakefield 69
Yeah I'm not really gonna cry about the government infringing on my right to eat specific fats. If they wanna use healthier oils, really it's not a bad thing.
thehidden 0
lots of restaurants have already done this but not gone for the advertising angle...one example although their food is nasty is East Side marios
hank213 1,824
Well, I think the point here is that everything must just be peachy in NY if this is what is taking up the government agenda. Crime rate must be at like 0.01, streets must be in great shape with no potholes and no gridlock if the government can use up it's ever shorter legislative session to address this catastrophic problem. Chicago and NYC must be darn near utopian places in which to reside if fats and foie gras are the most important problems their political representatives feel they needed to address. Please sirs and madams, don't keep your legislative prowess from the rest of the nation, please save us from ourselves.

psujohn 0
Well, I think the point here is that everything must just be peachy in NY if this is what is taking up the government agenda. This has nothing to do with New York. It's a Canadian thing. Notice "Health Canada" and "Parliament". Those aren't NY institutions. I'm not sure why OP related this to NY except for the fact that there's a chain called New York Fries. Which also doesn't exist in New York. And apparently sells **** that no one in New York has ever heard of like poutine.
finztotheleft 0
Yeah I'm not really gonna cry about the government infringing on my right to eat specific fats. If they wanna use healthier oils, really it's not a bad thing.Exactly, there is no plan to outlaw hamburgers and fries. I'm confident with a little work they can eliminate some trans fat and maintain taste.
