hello, this may seem rather odd but, what with daniel's oft-written about vegetarianism, it seemed a strangely logical place to post it! i live in the uk and am going to vegas for the first time soon to play a stupid amount of poker. i'm also a vegetarian and, from what i've heard, it's not a particularly great city for non-meat eaters. can anyone recommend anywhere where i can eat (please don't make me live off subway sandwiches for a week! i don't even like them!)?just to throw a spanner in the works, my travelling and poker companion will be someone who DOESN'T eat vegetables, so 'normal' eating places where you can get veggie food would be super ace. we went to montreal before and made an interesting pair at restaurants - i'm just like, "no meat at all please!", before he says, "only meat! no vegetables!". not expecting anyone to be able to help with a relative out-of-field question but, hey!, this is the off-topic forum and any assistance would be positively delightful!

From what Daniel posted, the buffets usually have a top notch selection of non-meat items
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

each afternoon, you mean?? hahaI was there for 4 days and I had subway once. It also took me 4 days after I got home to recover, so I wouldn't listen to me, if I were you.

Most of the buffets in the popular Vegas casinos are quite good and offer plenty of meat and non-meat selections. I think you will be happily surprised. There are usually plenty of vegetable, salad and pasta selections, as well as fresh fruit. For your carnivorous friend, there are usually many of the yummier species represented.Nikki

The buffet at Aladdin has lots of veggie options including some Indian food! The Burger Bar at Mandalay Place is great! You pick out the type of meat ( for your friend) or veggie burger options and add on whatever extras you want. They go from the regular stuff like onions, cheese etc to all sorts of exotic options. Trust me this is not a Burger King kind of place. I believe they even offer Kobe beef so that should have your friend running over there. Rainforest Cafe at MGM Grand also has veggie burgers, sandwiches , salads etc. Great breakfast too!At Desert Passage by the Aladdin is "Cheeseburger at the Oasis" . I know they offer veggie burgers and tofu sandwiches. I didn't get a chance to try them tho'. I had their breakfast and it was great! They offer a macadamia nut pancake with the nuts mixed into the batter (not just a few sprinkled on top.) Yum!Try some of the Chinese restaraunts they usually have good veg options. I ate at one of them at MGM I can't remember the name right now. Wolfgang Puck's place at Manadalay Bay also offered wonderful pizzas! No cheapy Pizza Hut type of stuff. Check around online alot of the places have their menus online. Hope this helps :-)
Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go, they merely determine where you start.

If you will have a car the best option for you would be to try Whole Foods which is a supermarket/restaurant. All kinds of healthy choices for both you and your significant other. You should at least go there once and pick up things that you can leave in your room. As far as restaurants, I have a few favorites:FireFly's- a Tapas place- on Paradise Rd.Cafe Ba-Ba- Reeba- a Tapas place- Fashion Show MallCirco- Italian at the BellagioNoodles- at the BellagioCheesecake Factory- at the Forum Shops- tons of optionsNobu- Hard Rock Cafe- Japanese (ask for Vegetarian special)Hamada- Flamingo- Japanese Tepanyaki (Vegterian entree) That's a short list there, but there are tons of great choices

I'd think he'd probably blow all his winnings on one meal at Nobu. Expensive stuff. Noodles is quite good and even the little snack bar next to the poker room at the bellagio has some real good veggie salads and pasta salads.I think the whole foods idea is the best. That is a great store and you'll save some money if you buy stuff and keep it in your room. You can even pack a little something and bring it with you to the pokerroom. Don't eat at the table though.Cheesecake is ok but be prepared to wait quite a while for your food.
thats a nice jesus ferguson you got there.
