Methodolgy: Summed up the fantasy pts per game of the top 9 forwards and top 6 defence on each team. Goalies is the sum of the GAA of the top two goalies on each FCHL team. Note that the points used reflect NHL games (not FCHL) and all points that are aquired by the player, not team.

note:Due to the joys of scripting I should be able to rerun at will (as long as my roster files are up-to-date).

nice work - still amazing how broadway is 0-7, since he had the consensus best preseason team. oh well, i'm sure he'll win a few games (against me).
i'm pretty happy being 4th or so, since i feel like i have the 3rd-6th best team or so.

i've got 3 good goalies, and better than average ability to field full rosters, so if anything, these power rankings will underrate me.
Long-term bets:

(2) 76'ers to win title @ 31
Webb Simpson to win US Money Title @ 17
Brandt Snedeker to win US Money Title @ 26
(5) Broncos to win the AFC @ 11
(2.5) Broncos to win the SB @ 21
(2) Bears to win SB @ 42
(0.5) Red Sox to lead AL East @ 6.5
(1.5) White Sox to lead AL Central @ 17.25
Indians to lead AL Central @ 15
Nationals to lead NL East @ 9
(0.5) Marlins to lead NL East @ 6
Padres to lead NL West @ 29
(0.5) Rockies to lead NL West @ 6.5
(0.5) Cardinals to win NL @ 9

I object to the methodology smile.gif Of course my team is going to LOOK like it sucks. Buffalo goes off for 9 goals on Philadelphia's soon to be former franchise goalie Chico Esche on a NON-LEAGUE night, and that debacle factors heavily into my rankings?

I think there should also be an "intangibles" factor, where you rate which team is moving upwards and downwards, especially related to roster moves. I think that my forsberg for Kovalchuk trade would definately put me high on the intangibles chart!

Finally, why am I not 4b? I beat Nell heads up, I should be above him in the rankings smile.gif I can understand Rins being ahead because of his record . . . .but cmon! Same record you go to head to head. .. . I am firmly in 4bth place smile.gif

1. Methodology: True, but I want to make my life easier. I'm already downloading the NHL stats to figure out my lineups so this wasn't a whole lot more.
2. Intangibles: True, but this is a script so I don't want to get into that detail. In the next version I'll also look at factoring in GP somehow to lessen / eliminate the factor of hot callups and/or injury prone players.
3. 4b?: That's the order the script told me!

In (forward rank)/(defence rank)/(goalie rank) format:

Power Rankings
1. mapleleafs - 1/3/10 (5-2-0)
2. broadway - 2/1/12 (0-7-0)
3. mapleleafpoker - 3/2/11 (3-4-0)

A tightly knit lead group all having similar characteristics, expect movement in the next report. All have top of the line scoring (forwards / defence) but have league worst goaltending to back them up.

4a. rinswun - 6/5/7 (6-1-0)
4b. nell789 - 5/4/9 (3-4-0)
4c. tulane - 4/6/8 (3-4-0)
7. mrdannyg - 8/8/5 (3-4-0)
8. ottawa_biatch - 7/7/6 (3-3-1)

Strong balanced teams, not excelling in any categories.

9. daveg - 9/9/4 (3-4-0)
Forth best goaltending, forth worst forwards / defence

10. rmunro - 10/10/3 (5-2-0)
Third best goaltending, third worst forwards / defence

11. ajs510 - 11/11/2 (4-3-0)
Second best goaltending, second worst forwards / defence

12. fenxis - 12/12/1 (3-3-1)
Very best goaltending, very worst forwards / defence

pah, leading the league and still no respect!

run this for fchl nights only and i would imagine i would be top 3 in every category. through 7 games my goaltenders have only conceeded 13 goals!

Problem: I'm only downloading the team stats pages and not the game log for each player; I don't feel like looking up the web ID of a couple hundred different players!

edit: Also, if there's any typos on the rosters that player won't be counted in the stats -- I did catch a few; mostly in the french names (ie missing hyphens, etc).

Since I have awesome forwards and you have awesome goaltending, lets make a deal!
When I go to a fast food restaurant, and my order comes to $6.28, I like to give the cashier $18.71. They look at me and say 'What's this?' and I say 'I'm all in'. They usually fold.

My problem is that my forwards are either not scoring (and getting bunch of assists) or just plain slumping. Will have to ponder wether or not it's time to pull the trigger.

With Pronger and Zubov, I wouldn't panic on defense for the time being.

Panic on offense! You need Ryan Smyth!

i think his script measures the stuff that actually matters pretty well. things like giving up 9 goals on a non-league night will even out.

your rankings will reflect your current roster, so in that way, they'll be a better measure of your "power" than your record, if you make a lot of moves. momentum in a league like this doesn't mean much.

Jay - if you're looking for goaltending, i've got 3 solid tandems. they won't be cheap, but they'll perform.

tampa bay has given up only 20 goals in 8 games, and has one of the best FCHL schedules.

just sayin... (that i rule).

i guess new jersey is probably the cheapest right now.

So my nightmare is real afterall.

Heatley and Jokinen are getting all their points on non FCHL nights.

Goal teams have been horrendous. Thought I was solid with Carolina and Rangers.

Every time I have played Kunitz and Vrbata, they have scored zilch ( maybe 1 assist, but i am not sure). They are off to excellent starts except for FCHL nights

Tanguay and Mara have absolutely tanked so far.

Started scoring the last 2 games, but have ran in to 2 teams that exccellent offensive nights.

I am officially on FCHL Tilt but I will not panic and trade my studs for aging stars or future years. I know the sharks have been circling but I have not given up on the year yet.

Broadway.
Happy Trails

Something I wrote in Perl while learning the language. Basically I can open the web page programatically and dump it to a file, then parse out the pertinent values.

Perl? I've never heard of it.

Is it possible to do something similar with Java?
