You're playing limit hold em ring game. You're in mp and limp w/ 33, lp raises, both blinds fold. It's heads up and the flop is something like 557. 1. check or bet2. if he bets do you callThis is to be just a general question w/ small pairs and flops like this. Let's assume he's a "solid" player and not a "loose maniac".

I would say a definate raise. He was in lp looking at your limp. His raise doesn't necessarily say strength but it does say high cards and maybe trying to isolate against you. I see you as best hand right now but a raise will define that. If you are best with the three's, you may not be for long so the raise gets you information on his hand and more then likely gets you the pot.Thats how I would play it, but that doesn't make it the right way to play it.

Level two thinking.A) Check/raise he flop. A good player can raise with all sorts of garbage from late position.B) Check/call the flop, bet the turn (when a non scary card hits)C) Check/call the flop, Check/raise the turn, Check/call the river (if non scary cards hit).
