Reading benhoug's forum about getting a security escort got me to reminiscing about some of the scary casinos I've encountered. I'm interested in hearing some of your stories. I'll start with one of mine:In 1999, I was travelling out west and stopped in several casinos. One night, a buddy and I ended up at the Phoenix (I think), somewhere in southern Washington state. The outside was confusing, and once inside, it was basically a renovated warehouse (or at least looked more like that than a real casino). There were very few gamblers who were speaking English. After we had been there a while, a floorperson announced (by yelling, since there was no P.A. system), "Would the owner of the white mini-van with liscense plate xxx-xxx please report to the front". A few minutes later, he tried again. Finally on his third attempt, he added "would the owner of the mini-van that has left your children in the van report to the front. We have called the police." It was about 40 degrees outside. My buddy was freaked out by the place and started demanding that we leave. I, on the other hand, was finally getting good cards after 2 weeks of getting slaughtered, so I just ignored him and increased my bets.

Eagle Pass, Texas. Yes, there are casinos on indian reservations in Texas. It was an absolute joke. The casino was not allowed to be the house in blackjack only to take a vig, so one of the players had to be the house. Very weird. Terrible food service and gambling. Trust me, this is the worst casino in the world.

My honeymoon...We were in Key Largo and it had already been 5 days since I got to play any poker, so I had a terrible itch. We found this brochure for a cruise boat that had hold em poker. I was very excited...that is until we got on the boat and saw it was video poker. There were maybe 50 people on the boat, all drunkards on their last leg and the worst cabana singer in the world was performing for no one. She wore a red dress that she must've stolen from the Salvation army, lips like a blowfish and a voice that was actually able to stunt the honeymoon experience AFTER the trip (if you catch my drift). "Who's hot? I'm hot. You're hot. We're hot...feeling hot hot hot" Yikes. My new bride tried to cheer me up by convincing me to play the quarter slots. 10 minutes and 30 dollars later, I'm completely depressed and stranded on this boat because it only docks every 4 hours, plus I managed to get sea sick. It was horrible! On the bright side, right before we left for the shore, I played 3 hands of black jack and made back the 30 bucks plus another 5. :club:

Palace Station in Vegas. The vinyl on the poker table was so dirty and sticky it was giving me a rash. I also am not crazy about the Hard Rock in Tampa. However, I heard they are going no smoking in November which would dramatically improve the place.

In 2000 was working in IT field and spent a few weeks at a time in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Believe me, very uncomfortable being followed into the washroom by the dealer to privately ask for more tips.

Those casinos are about twenty minutes from my house. Not that great but they are 18+. So they were had to do until I turned 21.

there is an indian casino in the Upper Peninsula of michigan with prabably the worst card room i've ever seen. The blackjack dealing was very sketchy too. However I took a break and put a dollar into these nickle slot machines and pulled the lever a couple times after having pushed a bunch of buttons. Anyway, I don't know much about slots but after 4 pulls I pushed the button to cashout and to my amazement the ticket said 98 dollars. So even though I got killed at the blackjack tables I was pretty happy about turning my dollar into 98 with just a coupld pulls

Hawaiian Gardens it's a tent! with no floors (cement) and the worst employees I have ever seen, not to mention fight after fight. With so many other decent places to play right around the corner, Bike, Commerce. Why anyone would go there is beyond me.

I haven't been to many, but the low end of the spectrum for me is Slots-a-fun, across from the Riviera in Vegas. That doesn't mean it's bad, just looks like a 3-card Monte game compared with other casinos. Even Westward Ho is better.
"We had all the momentum. We were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look west, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark, that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back." —Raoul Duke, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
