AP - For Immediate Publication
Oct. 20th, 2006
The Lost Cause has announced the immediate waiving of all rights to Sergei Samsonov and Alexander Mogilny. The open roster spots were filled with none other than Ray Whitney from Carolina, and Geoff Sanderson from Philadelphia. This move clears the Lost Cause of all responsibility for Samsonov's grossly inflated $4 salary, which gives management a little breathing room to operate.
Whitney and Sanderson were signed to matching $1 Free Agent contracts, and will be very important keys to success in the coming weeks and months. The Lost Cause previously had no presence in the Carolina or Philadelphia markets whatsoever, and Sanderson will be counted on for added offense with the most recent injury to superstar Peter Forsberg.
Both players are currently in the Top 5 in scoring for their respective teams, Whitney is tied for 6th overall in the NHL.
Waived:
Sergei Samsonov - 0 points in FCHL action, 2 points in NHL action
Alexander Mogilny - Long Term IR, likely will not play this season
$4.25 in combined salary
Added:
Ray Whitney - 7 points in NHL action
Geoff Sanderson - 5 points in NHL action
$2.00 in combined salary.

nice work, picking up some production this year for pretty much nothing. i don't give much credence to whitney's 7 points this year or anything, but both guys should get at least 50 points, which is nice second-line production from guys off of waivers.

12 teams vs 20 teams... some people are carrying prospects on their active rosters, no reserve, etc...

You mean the guy who logged a team high 21+ minutes of ice time in last nights Sharks game, and who everyone's been talking about for about a month?

yay. didn't know people had been talking about him, especially since he wasn't picked up right away in the FCHL.
I hope when he wins the Norris, they just put his name down as The Pickle.

You mean like we have to listen to you everytime Wellwood takes a shower?
When I go to a fast food restaurant, and my order comes to $6.28, I like to give the cashier $18.71. They look at me and say 'What's this?' and I say 'I'm all in'. They usually fold.
