predator06 0
I played quite a bit of NLO8 at the beginning of this year (did quite well). I intentionally bought into 1/2 tables with only $100 and I pushed preflop ALOT. It amazed me what some players called me with. This is an interesting situation. If it were me, I would push and most likely get called because of my table image since I push so much. It also looks like a steal attempt with 9bb's already in the pot. The debate... Do you want to be called or get a free $19? Both situations are +EV, but I would be happy with $19. I would push here in your situation. AA23 is beautiful, BUT I can attest to it not hitting flops quite often, so raising like $30 I don't believe is the play. Also, with this much action P/F the other A's must be gone. It amazed me what some players called me with. It's odd that you would say that, since that is PRECISELY what I was doing, which also explains why I only had ~$100, and exactly why I pushed.... predator06 0
So, did everyone fold? I think it is about the save EV with a steal or a call. Anyone that calls you is probably only about a 35-40% fav. In PL, I NEVER play with less than a full buyin. The 1/2 buy in is a great strategy for this type of game, esp if you push alot like I did. Keep in mind that when you push, 90% of the time the table will fold and you will win $5-$10 and the 10% of the time it is called, you should win 55-60% if you are pushing with the correct hands. You could lose a couple here and there, but in the long run, it is very profitable
EurekaKid 0
I've had success in Omaha 8 tournaments using this strategy which the blinds are at a nice level. Haven't tried it in a cash game because in PL I believe full buy-in is correct, but having read this I might try it. What sort of numbers have you guys been pulling in these games? Acid_Knight 2
I like the play a lot. If they all fold, then you increase your stack by about 20% without a fight, which isn't a bad pickup. You might get called by a hand like AKK2 or AK23 DS where they're drawing slim to dead to beat your high hand and are likely to get quartered against your hand. I think that it's a great play because any hand that does decide to enter is likely not going to win more than 1/4 of the pot.
antistuff 0
i think i like a raise of about $40 much better.

Wintermute 0
if you push enough preflop, you will get called here fairly often--definitely often enough to make pushing PF the right play
