Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Someone please tell me I had no choice but to go broke here so my mind stops trying to think of how I could've possibly got away from it. Down to 30 in a 6 handed tourney, 2nd in chips with 9500. Chipleader is two to my right and has me covered by about 800. Blinds 75-150, total maniac who has been playing every hand makes it 550, he only has about 2k left after the raise. Chipleader calls, folded to me in the BB with K9s. This is a power house hand against the orginal raiser, hes literally pushed all in 9 of the last 10 hands. With this in mind of course I call. Flop KK8, check to the maniac, he pushes as I expected him to do, other guy calls, I push all in. CHIPLEADER CALLS, ****!!!! I'm up against KQ cya. Was this a bad play when I have no reads on the chipleader. I know I have the original raiser beat but do I need to just let it go because of one caller allready? I know after that flop I gotta go broke but preflop has me questioning it.

Pre flop, no reason to get involved with the only guy that can bust you and a second guy you 'know' is going to push no matter what in same hand oop. Just a bad call all together.Protecting your chip stack is way more important than busting person number 30.post flop..what're you going to do? Only Phil Helmuth gets away from this.

This happens to me a lot. I run into the only guy at the table who can bust me and I typically get coolered. I dont know how to stop this trend?

say you chose to fold. Then you were given the option to switch?Should you switch?
It would have to be call, fold, or raise. Then once he's picked one, he now has a 50% chance of being right once he switches.Thought you understood math. :club:

I would never be involved with this hand in the first place. If you have your mind absolutely set on busting the maniac whose range you're sure you're ahead of, re-raise him PF to move out the KQ (as any reasonable player would fold that hand to a rr).Post-flop, as played, you're going broke with that hand every time.

Easy fold pre-flop. You dont want to be playing OOP to chipleader who can be on a very wide range, and no flop is necessarily safe.On the flop, why are you reraising all in? Youve got a monster hand and a dry side pot. If you push you can only be called by hands that have you beat. ..there are no draws on board. Give him a chance to "catch up", call and slowplay the turn (a probe bet or a check), see what he does.Theres no guarantee that this line gets you out of the hand with any chips. If he pushes you call, if he value bets you call turn and river...I dont think you push back because AK and KQ are certainly in his range for these bets. So youre dead or disabled with this line too. What seems clear to me is that a repush on the flop is grossly -EV compared to calling and playing the turn and river.

$5 NL is a viable option.I prefer just hammering the raise button, but some prefer the all in style. To each his own.

Yeah, all in all this is about the worst i've played a hand in about 2 years. I became so preoccupied in busting the maniac it totally blinded me to everything else that was going on in the hand. Honestly I got so caught up I saw K9s and before the manic even raised I knew I was calling him if he raised and didn't even think to stop and re-evaluate after another call. Ofcourse after this blind disregard for anyone else in the hand prelfop I didn't think about anything else after the flop and went broke when it was no where near called for. Hopefully my stupid mistake can be a lesson for someone else so they don't make the same stupid mistake. I know it has helped my game as this is the 2nd time this week I have screwed up a top 3 chip stack going after the chip leader figuring if i do hit it'll put me in such a huge lead I could coast into a big payday. This is not the way you want to play. With a big stack be aware of anyone that can bust you and give them respect unless you have a huge hand, it cost me deep in two tourneys don't make the same mistake.
