Just wanted to let everyone know, the MGM Grand is opening this coming Monday, and will be right up there/ if not the best room in town bar none. 23 tables, state of the art systems on the table to swipe players cards, order food and drinks, and get chips. Also, there are 6 huge plasma screens in the room, and also the centerfuge bar is right in the middle. Also located right next to the room is a state of the art sportsbook room that just opened last week. Its packed every day in there. The poker room will be spreading 2-4, 4-8, 6-12, 10-20 and higher limit games, also 1-2,2-5,5-10 and 10-25 and higher no limit games. Also will spread omaha games, the 5-10 will have a full kill. I am a full time dealer there ( wed-sunday noon-8pm )....names clay so if you come by make sure u come say hello !

What is the buy-in on the 5-10 no-limit game? Is it a buy-in like some of the 2-5 games in town, where you can only buy in for $200, or is it just a minimum buy-in?I'll be there May 12-15, I'll be sure to stop by and say hi!

The 5-10 NL game is a minimum buy in of $500 and a maximum of $2500.

Went and played the 1-2 NL game there and I have to say I am very impressed with the room. The room is very spacious and comfortable. The waitresses are very fast and the game is soft. The 2-5 NL game seemed to stay pretty full, but the 1-2 was so juicy it was hard to move. Some of the dealers are still a little green but friendly. Its proximity to some outside doors is nice so you can take a quick step outside for some sunlight and fresh air if needed. Definitely one of my new favorite rooms.

Yes, a lot of us are new ( I am new as well ) , but I think the personality of most of our dealers far excedes that of other cardrooms. Anyways, glad you like it, and if your ever there again, come say hi, names Clay, and I work wed-sundays noon to 8pm.

I have played about 20 hours down there opening week and I am not too impressed. The room is like a two mile hike from the parking garage, it is situated in the vacinty of two very loud nightclubs (Studio 54 and the lounge area), in the center of a high traffic area for those clubs with the resulting drunken traffic, the loudspeaker seems to go nonstop since the paging system they have in place isn't working out well, and our table went easily over an hour once with no waitress even after routinely requesting one.The action has been tremendous though and make up for it for players seeking fairly juicy/loose games with plenty of novices in all the games upto 5-10 NL. The 2-5 NL game played in all week have lists of 10+ seemingly at all times and are a mix of weak/loose tourists with a few local weak rocks (look for the guys using player cards, young and old) limping in and waiting for semi-nut hands to take down huge stacks to sit on. But to me the negatives don't outway the positives for the MGM room for non full timers. If I am going to go through all this commotion, I'd rather head over to the Bellagio.Oh:$1/2 NL = $100 min/max Buyin2/5 NL = $200-$500 Buyin

Sounds like the only negative is that you have to walk a little....

Yeah and the walk is not that bad. Plus the easy access from Koval makes it easier for me than Bellagio.
