I usually just play on party ( a little on full tilt about a year ago) and do pretty well in mtt and multi table sngs. I was wondering a few things about pokerstars. I have heard good things about their mtt structure and was curious about the 180 man tourneys (payouts, blind structure). Any info on these things as well as the ease of deposit/cashout would be appreciated. thanks.

The $22 180-SNGs have a pretty decent structure. Go to the Tournament strategy forum and there's a pinned thread on the 180-SNG strategy. Loads of useful info there.

PokerStars also has very good deposit/payout procedures and excellent support (based on what other FCPers say).

That being said though, I hate Stars since I never seem to do well there. I've played loads of th $22 180-SNGs and never even cashed once. I suck so bad...lol.

I signed up with Stars this week. Made a deposit with my VISA. Got 2nd in a $4.40 180-SnG, after not making it ITM in the first 6 or so. So then I wanted to test the cashout procedure.

My options (as I see it):
Open a FirePay or Neteller account
Have them mail a check

No way to get the money direct deposited to my checking? iGMPay at Party made this very simple. So, I opened a Neteller account. I can't for the life of me find a way to get money OUT of Neteller. Is that simply because I don't have any money IN Neteller? If I put money IN Neteller, can I then get it out easily? Direct Deposit? Is there a fee?

EDIT: Neteller can be linked to my checking account, and I can withdrawal $, once my account was verified. Once I did that, the EFT process looks pretty simple.

Well, all of that aside, I love Stars. The tournament structures seem much better. The 180-man SnG's are much better than Party's 5-table SnG's. You actually get to "play poker" rather than "hope my A/6 is good when I push from late position", which is what you're often forced to do on Party's 5-table SnG's, simply because the blinds get so big so fast. I think I'm done with Party for now, bonuses or not. If they give me some free money, maybe I'll play it. But I'm in love with Stars now. I'll probably like it even more, if I can figure out how to get money out.

Honestly, I get the feeling that Stars cares more about people who "want to play poker." I guess by that I mean that you have more of an opportunity to play tight and outplay after the flop. Plus, you get to play more hands for less money.

The 180-man SnG's are time consuming. Finishing 2nd took me well into the fourth hour. I think I was probably headsup for 30 minutes or more. And yes, that extra $72 was significant to me, although not life-changing. But that's what makes it great! I can play a lot of poker without risking much at all, and I don't have to wait for one of the big MTT's.

Having said that, I may eventually try to build up a BR and try out the $20 180-man's. But for now, my BR could disappear really quickly, if I went that route.
