doubleatrain 0
How often and in what situations do you all normally play the weaker aces, specifically in tournaments? I often wonder if I'm missing out on some chip accumulating opportunities by not playing many of them.
RonBurgundy 0
missing out on some chip losing for sure, but cheap flops with Ax suited are always nice in NL

doubleatrain 0
I know cheaply seeing Ax suited can be good with implied odds and what not, but I'm just wondering more about NL tournaments, I suppose late in the tourney when the blinds have gotten higher and there's more pressure to make a move. I'm personally still in the mode of almost always folding weak aces, and just worry that's a little weak in certain situations.
Random Fluke 0
playing any ace king queen or jack with a weak kicker is almost always a bad idea. You will often find yourself outkicked and this is a costly mistake.I ocassionally play Ax agressively when it is folded to me in the sb of a tourney.I'd much rather play 23o than a2o. Emptyeye 0
Yeah, weak aces in any situation are a good way to get yourself into trouble. That said, I'll usually play Ax suited, expecting that I'm good enough to be able to drop it if I flop the ace and nothing else. I often wonder if I'm missing out on some chip accumulating opportunities by not playing many of them.In all honesty though I have the same *problem* you do. I truely do hate playing Ax even Ax SOOOOOOTED because I think I am just pissing money down the drain. Now in a tournament setting it's a whole different story. I am trying to play any ace in tournaments and often do raise preflop with it now and the last few tournaments I have played I actually have done better by increasing my aggression factor with them. Buyin to some really cheap tournaments and try it out and see how you do.
jayistheman 0
the only problem with showing agression with a weak ace, is that when you run into any callers, you are usually dominatedi try to show more agression with suited connectors and hands like 10j

I have been making it deeper into tournaments since I have been mixing up my play more and raising with Ax but it could just be luck(who knows). But I'll update to see if it works in tournaments.DISCLAIMER: I do not recommend playing that trash in a cash game though, well maybe in late position, or if it's cheaper, or if there are a lot of limpers, DAMNIT FIND YOUR STYLE AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO PLAY THEM. MilesZS 0
Sorry to kinda crap on this thread, but I'm inclined to tell a story. This is my first real experience with someone saying "but it was suited."I was playing a micro-limit NL game on Stars (yes, I'm worthless. Fine.) I think I had QQ or KK or something similar. I bet pretty high for the table so far. The board comes rainbow, one diamond (this becomes significant. I bet the pot, caller. Another diamond. I bet the pot, caller. Another diamond. I figure there is no way he was chasing the flush the way the table was and the way I had been betting. I bet .. probably the pot again, he calls. Sure enough A4s. I type "Wow, nh, I am surprised you called my raises with that." I wasn't trying to be a jerk, it's just not necessary. However, someone else does that for me, making fun of him. He goes "but it was suited."We proceeded to laugh. I stayed at that table for a long time and busted that guy, it was fun. Running joke at the table was "but it was soooooooooted!"
