Yes, it is not likely that you are getting raised here by anything that you beat. Just make the crying call.

In my opinion with 8-low and knowing the villain is looking to make or break his hand on the river, I would be inclined to check and see his reaction. If he doesn't make his hand then he will likely check back. If he does make his hand he will likely bet and you could easily make that call.Without knowing more about the players involved or any possible reads you might have, I think the check-call would have been the best route with 8 low. All the 8s were out on the board or dead, so he is pretty much chasing a 7 considering you were showed to be coming down on an 8 yourself. Perhaps I am a little more cautious than some, however.

Im ok with the bet on 7th because theres the 3rd player in the hand that is going to pay you off with a worse 8 like he tried to do before he got priced out by you two capping it up. Theres no way the 3rd guy can be raising with a hand that doesnt have you beat, since even if you're bluffing with nothing the guy in the middle clearly has a weak 8 made and if you dont call he certainly will and even if you do call he might so a bluff has 0 chance of working. I suppose there is a very slim chance that he made a strong 86 and is hoping you have a 6 or 7 down, but with 3 8s already dead this is unlikely. Your 3 bet is terrible since his range of hands he can have that you're beating is almost nothing and theres a decent chance he caps it (though his cap with a 76 low is a very thin raise). Since the 3rd player is in I might even fold the hand on 7th because Im that sure he cant possibly be bluffing, and I certainly wouldn't raise, most of the time I would probably make the crying call. Oh, and if for whatever reason I decide to be suicidal and I 3 bet and then he caps it over the top just fold your hand because you have 0 chance in a million that you have him beat in a $32+3 sng unless its clear that he doesnt know at all what hes doing like the people you see sometimes in the first level or 2 that are capping with pairs showing and showdown full houses, but by the 60-120 level you should know if hes one of these players or not.

to be fair he was a terrible player and I was multi tabling so the 3 bet was a reaction rather than a thought. Plus it left me with about 1k to play with. Annoyingly the same dude won another ridiculous pot putting him at like 5.5k and he sat out until 3 handed leaving me the bubble when the other short(er) stack doubled up.

yeah, i'm with scotty on this one. you played the hand fine the whole way down up until 7th. i certainly don't check/call 7th, but i certainly don't 3-bet it either. bet/call is the correct play here.

checkraise isnt going to work, everyone bricked on 6th, if either of them was going to play his hand fast they would have already raised it on 5th, checking 6th just gives both of them free cards to draw out on you instead of making them pay to draw

i could see the made 87 (if he actually has a made 87) bet fifth if we check after pairing our 8. our check says "oops. paired my eight. i'm still drawing, guys i'm not gonna try to steal this pot anymore." if the 87 thinks we don't feel like drawing anymore, he'll bet here.if we check after hitting a nice card, it would look suspicious and they'd probably check. but i find that, especially against weaker oponnents, they can be tricked into betting (even if they still have a draw) if you check after hitting a brick telling them you've been representing more strength than you actually have the entire time, and now you've given up.
