Calling All Vancouver/lower Mainland Bc Players.

Recommended Posts

EDITFriday Sep 15, RIVERROCK @ 9pmPM me if you can make it. So far I have the following names but I need to know if you are still a yes.sixhandsryan2323stonzjosh604threebetmerbyderswickcfinndoug (my brother-in-law who is an FCP lurker, don't worry I will get him to sign up before Friday )CheersSixI have an idea that many of you Vancouver-Lower Mainland BC Poker Players may be interested in.As most of you probably already know the BC Poker Championships is being held in November. There are three events - PL Omaha 8, PL Texas Hold Em and NL Texas Hold Em.http://www.greatcanadiancasinos.com/files/...-BCPC-Final.pdfHere's more information if you want it.What I propose is getting a group of FCPers together to play the $60 single table satellite. (we will need 10 to make it a true FCP qualifier)If you win the $60 satellite that gets you into level 2, if you win level 2 you will be entered into ALL THREE BC Poker Championship events.I would like to get as many FCPers together for a night of poker and if we can all sit at one qualifying table that would be really cool.let me know what you all think of this idea.Cheers

Are you talking about the single table where top 2 win entry into the super satalite? It looks like the single table sit n gos are 60$ ($52 +8) with the top 2 getting a $260 entry in to the super that run Biweekly. The super is larger field tourny with one entry awarded for each 20 $260 (250 +10 ) buy in (entry to all three main events $5000 total inclu entry fees).I guess you could use the winnings for the higher $$ satalites or direct buy in etc....I'm in... lets figure out a date to set up the table... sooner rather than later

As far as I can tell the single table sats run 24/7 so we just need as many FCP guys as we get a hold of, pick a casino to play at and then pick a day.I agree sooner rather than later.

I live in Abbotsford Josh, how much is the buy-in to your Friday games. If it is cool with you maybe I could drop by one Friday?Okay folks, I just called Boulevard Casino in Coquitlam and the very nice young lady said that if I showed up with 9 other players then they will get a table started for us.Top 2 get a ticket to the Super Satellite. $260 value each.I propose that we also chip in $5 each and that money goes to the bubble as 3rd place gets nothing. What do you guys think?I propose that we meet up at around 10pm on any of the following dates. (all Fridays)Sep 15Sep 22Sep 29Oct 6We will need 10 people to make it an FCP qualifying table.

I would definitely come out to the River Rock, but Coquitlam isn't doable for me.
I'll buy you a couple drinks if you could make it :club:

Hey Six, I don't PM .... never have and don't care to learn. You'll have to let me know through here by bringing this thread up again or starting a new one .... rarely a day goes by that I don't come on here.

Nothing to it, I can let you know in this thread but if I PM you through FCP a little window come up with the details as soon as you log onto FCP.Either way is cool for me.

I might be able to make it. However I'd be surprised if they had a table avaliable on a Friday night at 10 pm, did you run that time by them? Hey BTW I din't know Broadway had a poker room. How many tables do they run?

Good point on the day & time .... also wondering if you can use the super satelite entry (win) at river Rock or you have to use it in Poco? Maybe Mr Six will check on these for us?Broadway has really slowed down in the last 6 weeks or so (have other rooms in Van???) but they usually have one 10/20 Limit and two 20/40 Limit (both full kill) going by 4pm every day. Weekends will usually see a 1/2 NL get going by midnight. There are only 6 tables in total. Also about to go to 24Hrs on the Sept 17th (currently 10am to 6am). The 20/40 game is the best game in the city, imo.

Two interesting questions. I will call them to find out. They may do what Cascades does and that is use one of the tournament tables in the theater for qualifiers. That way they don't lose out on the rake in the main room.I am pretty sure you can use the ticket at the rock as they are both Great Canadian locations but I will double check for you.Info forthcoming :club:

As enticing (and just a wee bit creepy) as that sounds, I do not presently own a car. So, have fun all.

Here's my tournement summary (long). For ease of reading, I will break it down into several posts in this topic and put action in bold and my internal "dialogue" in italics.I was there on Saturday (anyone else?)Tournement details: Buy-in: $260 Number of entries: 75 players Payouts: --Top 3 win tickets to all BC Poker Championship Tournements (value = $4900), --4th wins $3615The first hand of the tournement, I watch a player at my table call an all-in with a open-ended straight draw and a pair on the turn to eliminate a player who flopped top two pair. One hand played, first blood spilled and new chip leader at our table. I will call this big stack player "Action Guy".I get no interesting hands for the first level. My first key hand is in the second level when I am dealt AA in third position. Blinds are 25/50 and the average stack is still around the starting chip stack of 2,500. A seemingly tight player (with 2,300 chips) in first position raises to 300 (this is unusually large, the opening raises have been 150 to 200 at this table). Having seen his play so far, I put him on a premium hand (AK, AQ, or a pair TT and up) and decide to smooth call (this table has been tight, so given the size of the raise, I felt I didn't have to worry about starting a calling train: anyone who calls behind would probably also have a premium hand). We see a flop heads-up: 9 :club: 8 :D 3 :D . He checks - (given his pre-flop raise combined with lack of position on me and a draw heavy board, I decide he does not have an over pair but has AK or AQ, so I feel it is safe to let him peel a card) I check.Turn is Q:D . He checks, I bet 300 (roughly half-pot), he pushes all-in (1,800 more)... was I trapped? Did he actually have 88 or 99 and flop a set? After some deliberation, I decide to go with my initial flop read and decide he has AQ. I call. He shows AQ, blank river and I stack my first opponent. I am now sitting around 5,000 chips and am the second biggest stack at the table (Action Guy is the biggest stack with 8,000 chips: he knocked out another player when his set of aces took down an opponent's set of jacks).Nothing more interesting to report until the last hand before the break. I find myself in the BB when an aggressive player with 2400 chips raises to 600 pre-flop (blinds are 100/200). I have around 5,000 chips and pick up a tell that he's weak (he has raised several of the last hands pre-flop whenever he is in position and it is folded to him. When I asked him for a chip count, he was very uncomfortable; he appears to be a relatively new player, so I rule out the possibility that he sitting on a monster and playing weak to entiice a call/raise). I look down at 55 and, after some deliberation decide to just take it down pre-flop: I raise all-in. After 3 minutes, he calls, shows AT-offsuit and rivers an ace. I guess I misread him: his hand was stronger than I expected and given his stack size and the blinds after the break, he made a justifiable call). So I end up going to the break with 2,250 chips. Blinds will be 150/300 after the break, so I will have my work cut out for me...<to be continued...>
