Mid way through a MTT blinds are 100-200 I have 8250 my opponnet has 3500. UTG raises to 600 folded to me on the button I call with J icon_suit_diamond.gif J icon_suit_heart.gif

I have no particular read on the player who has only just arrived at the table so my base assumption is that he has a decent hand.

Flop K icon_suit_diamond.gif Q icon_suit_club.gif T icon_suit_diamond.gif

Pot is now 1500 UTG bets 250

He is either super strong KK(?) or making a weak bet at a scarry board in the hope I can'nt call

I call I figure the straight would be good if I hit it, a Jack or a diamond might be a mixed blessing but for 250 I will take the chance Mental note to self get ready to drop this on the turn

Turn Q icon_suit_diamond.gif

UTG bets 250 I now think he is strong (I think KK at this stage) however the straight flush draw has opened up for me. I am not getting pot odds for a 2 outer but if I hit I know I will get paid off am I getting enough implied odds to make the call ?

Any comments much appreciated

Life is a gamble at terrible odds if it was a bet you would never take it.

I would raise on the turn - that's two weak bets in a row by villain. Either he has a monster or he's very weak.

If he's weak, then a raise on the turn of 1/2 the pot to represent that the turn card hit you should cause him to fold. If he has a monster, he'll call/raise and you're done with the hand.
