I am currently on break from this tourney. I have 4200 in chips which is consideribly below average, which is 12k. There are 138 players left and blinds are 200/400. Whats your strat?Of course I know I need to double up, but what do you push with?

Break again. I have 6k and am 2 out of the money, top 70 get paid. I am one of the short stacks but there a few lower than mine. So if anyone does decide to respond. Whats your play now? Blinds are about to be 800/1600, do you just hold on or push with your short stack hoping to pick up blinds and maybe double up if you get called?

I have read the first one. I was just trying to get a discussion going. I do need to buy HOH II. I am now 22 in chips with 31 remaining. So we'll see how it turns out. Prize pool is almost 25k, and I think its something like 6k for first.

The thing is, HOH 2 will give you in depth analysis on what to do in the situations you are describing...A lot more than I could do in my 15 minute break from work...I own it, but I haven't read it, which also explains my semi-weak contribution.Either way, I hope it works out well for you.- Zach

What's your chip count and blinds at the moment. For now hold on to your chips.I'll try and shoot some HOHI and HOHII strategies your way. I've read both. I'll tell a little hand selection but I have to know the stacks and all that.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner I had to go to work for a little while. I ended up getting 19th for like $185. I had A :D Q :D and got knocked out with 33. No bad beat or anything, Blinds were 4k/8k and I had about 30k. MP raises to 20k, I reraise the rest. I figured it was as good of a spot as any because the blinds were closing in and if I did double up I would be able to actually do something. Flop 3 :D 5 Q Turn 6 :) (and I am like oh **** I am gonna suck out) River 2 :club: And after 5 hours of play and outlasting 560 people I am out. I was happy with the finish but wished the payout woulda been a little better.

I feel ya on that. One thing that I think is making my game better is patience (sp?). Its not something that I just developed but when I can just focus on the game at hand even if it is fold fold fold fold, I end up doing pretty good. Its when I get bored or lose focus that my mistakes start to happen. I am sure that is a common problem but it is something that I have been working on.

my trouble lately is more of apathy.I fold every hand and don't want confrontations until my stack gets so low I have to play for my life. It's as if everyone always has a better hand. Every flop they bet and I miss. 4 handed in 2 Pay STT's, and I watch my stack go from 3500 to 1800 of the 12k on the table, w/o ever getting past the flop.I'm left pushing all my chips with AJ vs a Button raiser with AK.WE start with 2,ooo chips, and I"ll be darned if I"m not between 1500 and 3000 80% of the time, even when I swing above 4k early on.I get lethargic? Often I get lucky because others will be eliminated. This sissy style actually lead me to limp with 44 and 1800/12000 chips with blinds 100/200 3 handed, 2 Pay. And knowing I can't play post flop without a set..why am I limping there?if I had 1400, it's an eaasy push because I can go on auto pilot then.I still should push with 1800, probably given the orther stack were evenish.I pretty much suck in the 10-16 BB rangesorry to hi-jack.. :club:
