This Iran Thing....

Iran wants/is enriching uranium. They say for peaceful power, US and others say for weapons. Today was the deadline for Iran to stop before sanctions may be placed.
OK.
Iran is a sovereign country. Why, in all fairness, can't they make nukes, for energy or weaponry? We have them. Others have them. We didn't sanction India and Pakistan for having them (maybe pakistan for just a bit).
They know that if we find out they sold one to a terrorist group, we'll turn their facilities into parking lots.
They know if they fire one at us or an ally, we'll turn their whole country into a parking lot.
So, at this point, do we need to place sanctions, piss them off worse and make gas go up to 4 bucks a gallon?
Discuss.

Are you serious?
The world has been scaling back nuclear arms ever since the cold war and the majority of the world has agreed not to build more. Iran has a crazy zealot leader who threatens genocide on Jews on a daily basis and you could suggest it would be appropriate for them to have nukes?
Anywho, with that said, if Nato, the major powers or both don't stop it, Isreal will. It will be difficult due to the fact that Iran has many underground facilities and moves them about to make airstrikes effective. Sanctions probably won't work well either since they can retaliate with vast amounts of oil and money.
The best sitution is fuel the underground youth in Iran who oppose the dictatorship and want more freedoms.
To sweep the clouds away
Waiting for the rainbow's end
To cast its gold your way
Countless ways
You pass the days

We can do our best to convince countries otherwise. And, we're gonna know if "terrorists" get nukes. You can't just "move'em". The movies aren't reality.
We would know where the nukes came from. We would solve the problem.
I saw a news conference with Ahmenijahd last night. He's not a lunatic. He isn't a suicide-bomber turned president. Those Mullahs and him don't really care about worldwide islamic domination; they care about power. "Fueling the underground" isn't working...Iranians are more inspired in their country than they have been in a really long time.

we're gonna "know" they have them when they blow one up on Western soil -- I'd rather not wait for that

LOL...you must not have very much faith in our intelligence services...
Why blow up Tehran? Seriously? Just to do it?
I would be much, much more worried that North Korea would do something like that before Iran. That guy is a total nutjob, has no friends, and no hope for power/influence outside of the DPRK.

I thought the thread was just about Iran.
I'd be fine with leveling both.

If you honestly believe there was worse than a 90% chance we would find out a nuke plot before it was carried out, AND you believe that Iran DOES NOT believe the USA would retaliate with nuclear attacks if Iran launched a nuclear weapon, then I understand your stance and would agree with it in your case.
I don't believe any of the above.
