I Folded Kk Preflop

Weekly home game $.50/1 No Limit. I bought in for $100 as did everyone else.4th hand into the game, we're playing five handed because everyone had not shown up yet. I am in the small blind.UTG when I last played with him was dumb maniac (his claim to fame was he lost $30K on one half of a preseason football game) He was talking about how he's becoming smarter. So anyways he min raises to $2, fold, Button calls, I look at kings I raise to $8. BB folds, UTG reraises to $25, folded back to me. I'm thinking to myself what kind of hand would he do this with. I said to myself the only 2 hands I could see anyone doing this with is AA or KK and i had KK so AA was more likely. After about 3 minutes, I folded face down and he showed me QQ. (Pretty close to when DN folded his KK and the guy showed QQ)I always told myself I would never fold KK preflop unless my opponent turned over AA. I folded because I wasn't comfortable playing for my whole stack when I wasn't sure I was ahead that early into the game, it seemed to risky to me. By the end of the night I knew I shoulda called, but I still ended up with his stack at cash out time. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I like how you threw in "I still ended up with his stack by the end of the night". That's irrelevant. If youre up against AA then rebuy. This is a LIVE...HOME....game. If there is ANY setting in which I would NEVER fold KK then it would be this one. Worse players and plays ever occur at home games. You said yourself he used to be maniac. You really don't have enough to fold KK here. A min raise then reraise? If hes min raising in the first place he probably isnt the most clever opponent so just push here.Also, if you're uncomfortable with playing those limits then try to buy for half or ask if they want to play lower limits. Playing scared is usually bad.

Why is it irrelevant? I know I made a huge mistake here, and should have pushed it in. But it didn't throw me off my game, and it was still a profitable night. Does it matter if I take his stack in one huge hand early, or if I chip away at it all night, the result is the same.Also like 10% of the reason why I folded is because I think I wanted to just be able to say I folded KK preflop, even though it was a horrible horrible decision.

I'm saying its irrelevant because it had nothing to do with situation. If you go broke you can rebuy and if he is a weak opponent he will be holding your money for you to win back. You should be confident that since its a typical weak home game that even if you go broke you can grind your way back up. Although once again, folding KK is -EV in THIS situation.

I think you made a weak read on your " he can only re-raise with AA or KK".New/bad players will re-raise you here with 10s JJ, QQ KK, AA and AK. Against that common range for a 3bet, its safe to put your whole stack at risk here with KK.

this certainly is certainly a reason to push this preflop. I fold KK preflop, but shed home games against a maniac min raise & reraiser is just not comparable at all to situations that really would justify folding.

i think the "3rd raise" rule has to be changed to the "4th raise rule." I know they only show you the exciting or weird hands, but I was watching one of the TV tournaments last night (Monte Carlo?) and I saw third raises preflop thrown in with 88, TT, KK and AK. AA had two opportunities and both times just called. i know 6 times means nothing, and that this is on a different level than most of us play on, but it is still somewhat telling.
