Yeah, you played it fine. Technically, you should probably raise 5th street, since unless villain has 2 unpaired wheel cards in the hole, you have the best hand. (And since he raised 3rd from a steal position, he could have just about anything).

Raising on 3rd would be terrible. He may not have A2 in the hole, but if he has any two cards below a 9, you are a dog and since you have the J showing, he will know that you are a dog and will just re-raise you. He may be bluffing with a worse hand once in a while, but nowhere near enough to make a raise profitable.

I would have completed here, tried to take the pot down right away, prevented any steal attempts and then if called, raise on 5th like another suggested.

I fold on 3rd. If this hand continues on, I call 4th since you did catch one card you need. I raise 5th, you're a favorite over a made 9 here. call 6th, raise river.
