Ok, so i found a leak in my game. Its only in early stages of MTT's or at times SnG's.But for the sake of examples, Table is new, blinds are 10/20 stack sizes all roughly 1500..I pick up AQs in late position, a couple limps, and I make a standard raise to 100.blinds fold, only 1 limp calls.flop is K,J 3. I hit nothing., and limper checks to me. I make a C-bet of about 2/3 the pot, about 150 into the 250. he calls., turn is a 8., still no draws. he checks.i fire now close to 350 into the 550 pot. he calls., river bricks again, 2hhe checks again. Now., thoughts that go through my mind are1 - he slow played a set2- He called with possible draw maybe 10,Q I should also add that, I dont feel strongly here that i'm against 2 pair. There is a possibilty of TP, but the check call on the turn seems weak for TP.Seems like the only hand i do beat is a draw, so a check would be ok, but could I push him off this?As i type this i remember when i played the 2 table Mini tourney in Vegas with DN and Gov ad the other contest winners.DN lead out a bet on the flop Gov called, DN bet again on the turn with TP, and Gov called, the river brought a 3, and DN thought no way that helped him, and bet, gov pushed, and sure enough Gov had 3,3. (a donkey play, but it was over a year ago, so i forgive him )I have noticed many donks playing this way, is it correct for me to add a 3rd comment to my thoughts that maybe he wasplaying a PP. all the signs seem ok. Whats everyones thoughts, cuz i've found myself testing these waters. sometimes it works, other times i get called by 7,7, and think how did he call with 3 over cards and my preflop raise??Thanks in advance.

I think if you want to rep AK you have to pot it twice, and maybe three times

Ive thought about that, and maybe i'm over thinking my opponents because i put mysel fin their shoes and i think, If i was me etc... and i hit TPTK, which is usually the flop u want with AK., would I be betting the pot vs a check, or would i want to get a little action from weaker pairs.

This situation comes up a lot and I am glad I didnt fire third bullet when they flip oevr an overvalued TP that theyre obviously not letting go off or a monster (rare) but othertimes they flip 2nd pair or PP and I feel I shoulda fired. Usually I check if its early stages, too many donkeys who are going to call with anything.

I don't fire the 2nd bullet.I check behind on Turn and would not bet the river on this fairly dry board even if he checks to me again.As played, that's a pretty nice size pot; however, it's also one he seems committed to seeing thru, and I would be hesitant to risk the chips necessary to move him off. In tourney, I think preserving these chips for your real hands is important.Once he called the flop it gets too expensive to move him off the hand.

And that would be the perfect line. The C-bet is fine. On the turn he gives you a free look at a gutterball--why bet again? He has some part of this board, and if he doesn't, then you're ahead and try and get to showdown cheap. And if you do fire that third bullet(and get called), be prepared for your table image to be completely fucked and get called down by even worse donkeys.

Thanks,I dont know why i played it this way, I used to be more reserved but i seem to play a lot more agressive now, and although it gives great results, i cant help but feel i'm making silly plays like this one when i should slow down and think a bit

It's taken me awhile to figure out that cold-calling is not always a sign of weakness.

I fast play a lot of hands, which usually gets my big ones paid off, it also makes me easier to trap, however it does make my c bets work more that often

I agree w/ Actuary, firing that second bullet is not necessary. Its early lets preserve our chips
