nl call raise or fold

Recommended Posts

I've got 77 in the BB two people limp in for the 10 cents, and the sb goes all in for 1.75 (I just sat down so I have almost the full 10 dollars)Was I wrong to fold this?I figured if I called, at least one more would be priced in. They both get to act after me, I have them both covered.I just sat down at this table a few hands back, so I don't think reraising all in would have helped.

Based on straight pot odds, I'd fold (assuming that the limpers would not call). Since I just sat down, I'd assume that the limpers would fold since their limp probably means they aren't strong enough to call a huge raise that's already been cold-called (by me). Since I know nothing about this player, I'm not sure if this huge over raise means an overpair or two overcards. First impression is that it means the latter. However, using a 50/50 chance at either, i'm a 2 to 1 dog, on average, with about 1.24 to 1 pot odds. At best (he has overcards), I'm a coin flip to win, at worse (he has overpair), I'm a huge dog.The key for me is that you said you just sat down. I tend to give opponents the benefit of the doubt (i.e., assume they are strong) until I see otherwise. In a cash game like this, I'm not willing to gamble in this spot. Now, to answer your question...I already said I would have folded. But, calling is not an option b/c 1) you won't get anymore info on the initial raiser's hand, and 2) you might be giving limpers odds to call. If I were going to raise, I'd make it about $3.50 to go. Given that, I like folding even more b/c what happens if he comes back over the top of me all-in? Now, I'm almost forced to call, as 35% of my stack is already in the pot.

That was my thinking as well.I hate starting a new table in a hole that probably could have been prevented.

there is nothing to think aboutthis fold is beyond easy.-u have nothing invested in the pot, therefore nothing to defend-no read-best case scenario is probably a race.

also, i dont think anyone else should be "priced in" to a 17x raise... thats pretty big. i would also fold anything up to JJ or QQ to this... jacks and queens would be a decision, but i'd probably find a better spot.... given a read, it would be alot easier to make a decision..... i really don't understand who someone would just move all in here... but the micro NL players are an odd bunch.
