Ya, that was an entertaining game too, pretty much the only thing I enjoyed this Sunday. The Cardinals executed horribly down the stretch though, so the Niners were pretty lucky.Heh the offensive 'guru' they brought in was the offense coordinator under Erickson, so I'm not overly excited. It was nice to see them make an effort to get Gore the ball a ton. They are 9-1 all time when he has at least 20 carries....and that is the first time he has had 20 carries this year. WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFF? How bad of a game plan can you devise where you don't get him the ball like that? Tollner probably walked in, said 'Get Gore the ball.', and went home, ate his 4:30 pm dinner, and went to sleep.Pretty disappointing year. :club:

Niners got lucky to win this game but a win is a win1. Tollner will get a lot of the credit for the Offense's revival - maybe all he said was to feed Gore and Vernon as Gore saw a ton of plays and I noticed many of the early pass plays including the first td were going to Vernon. Darrell Jackson continues to have the dropsies. Arnaz Battle showed some speed that I didn't know he had, either that or the Cards' DBs are pretty slow.2. Patrick Willis is a beast - besides being all over the field, he ran down the Cards' WR which allowed Rackers to miss the winning field goal. Even though the DB might have gotten there in time, just seeing Willis hustle like that felt very very good.3. Nolan's in-game coaching continues to baffle. Having Nedney kick a 55 yarder with eleven seconds left instead of running the clock down (it was first or second down) allowed the Cards to have a chance at the hail mary could have been a back breaker.4. Also right before the long reception that Willis made a great play on, Nolan used up his last time out in the OT and both were for the defense. Let's burn all our time outs and allow a huge play after burning our last time out.5. At least he went for it on fourth down late in the game even though Gore didn't get the first - maybe he did learn something from last week's game against the Rams. Nolan needs a special assistant the sidelines, a "duh" coach to inform Nolan when he's making a duh decision. No one else is doing it.Niners vs Panthers next week - a chance for back to back wins.

Mike Martz new O-coord :club: I don't like it personally. But if he can turn around the offense like he did for the Rams, it's worth a shot I guess.

Heh, have fun. He was a breath of fresh air around here. Didn't listen to the head coach, the players didn't like him, and he would structure his game plan based on what the media thought he should do just to spite them. He wasn't the large problem with this team, because let me tell you, the Lions are a hilarious joke of a NFL team, but he was part of it.

They did also manage to win a lot more than they have in the past with his game planning.

I wouldn't say that their 4 extra wins came from Martz and his offensive scheme. His offensive schemes cost the Lions 3 or 4 games. They had an easy early half of the schedule and took advantage of it, barely, in most of those games. Then they played good teams and showed who they really were and Martz played a lot of childish games within those games. I have a huge despise for this whole organization so I am bit biased in my opinions, but I think you would find that many of the fans and media blame Martz for many of the failures this past season. Hell, listening to local sports radio right now and guess who they are talking about...Martz. lol

Any semblance of a defense and Mike Martz's joke of an offense is a playoff offense.
