You did the best with what you had. You flopped second pair and a flush draw everyone checks you bet and get one caller. You said that he's calling with trash so he could have any hand. When you turn trips and he raises it could have made him a nines full of kings but what are the chances? I think you played it well. When the 5 hits for the boat I don't think you have to be scared of the quads or higher full house. I probably just smooth call though just in case and split the pot.

nope. I raise that river. It's probably a split pot but can you be sure based on his turn bet...he could've been bluffing at the second 9 or reraising with a pair of 5s. Make him pay if he's got 5s full.

I don't think there is any value to pushing the river..No hand that has a five plays it like this nor a K..Its one of those situations, it seems, where we are only getting called by hands that beat us and getting worse hands to fold

According to OP's notes, villain has no problem calling flop bets with bottom pair. He could easily call this flop with BB trash like 8-5 and then raise the turn trying to steal the pot. The river 5 gives him a full house so he fires out a blocking / value bet. The hand that beats us, kings full or quads, is more unlikely than the hand that we're beating, 5s full.

I play it about the same. I maybe bet a little more on the turn given the history of the player. I really think this is a split pot most of the time. If he has you beat he has made a terrible turn raise and river bet. I just call the river.

If I remember correctly, these are microlimits and people do idiotic things. The times when you're beat by 55,K9, or even KK do not come close to outweighing the times he calls with a 5, a K or even some retarded PP. Giving WAY WAY WAY too much credit to these players man. OP gave evidence that villian was moron. Push river.
