Guys, I got stuck in a really bad situation today playing in my regular

$1/$2 No Limit cash game.

I had about $260.00 in front of me.

I called a raise with Q 9 offsuit against an early position raiser who was a tight-aggressive solid player, one other guy called and the flop was:

10spades Js Khearts - giving me the second nut straight.

The early position raiser bet out $15.00 (the pot was about $25.00 at the time.)
and I raised to $35 total.

The guy behind me called! (oh geez) and then the initial raiser came over the top of me all in for $170.00 more.

So now I had to put him on one of these hands:

KK, JJ, KJ, 1010, J10, or A Q.

I really didn't think he had A Q in this situation and I thought he was trying to protect a big hand like trips. So I called the $170.00. Thankfully, the guy behind folded!

So two of us were all in for a good $380.00 pot.

Guess what he had? Ks Qs (King Queen of spades)

He had an open ended royal flush draw. He was drawing to 11 cards for a win and 7 cards for the split.

8 of spades on the turn and I lose the pot. sad.gif

Obviously my question to everyone and anyone is:

Should I have folded the hand, protected my stack and not taken such a risk?

I won't go on with my thoughts but instead ask for advice and suggestions from you FCP players! Please give me advice.

Gus.

I didn't know as one could have an open ended royal draw...

In any case, this is why you don't call raises with Q 9 preflop.
Once you hit that flop, you're stuck.

LOL sorry an open ended STRAIGHT flush draw.

I'm tired, it was a rough day.

and i know what u mean with the calling raises.

before the flop even came i was like

"If i flop a straight please let it be 10 8 J. please not 10 J k!

and there it was, and there went my money.

Even when i pushed all in, i said to myself "what a stupid stupid move"

Trouble hand - troubling pot. sad.gif

OK, I'll bite. You should fold here.

Gus.

If you knew his cards for a fact, then you should certainly call. If you're concerned about losing your bankroll, then it's going to be tough winning at a particular stakes.

Not knowing his hand, it's a little trickier. You're drawing to a split for all your money if he has AQ, which is a reasonable holding. If you're ahead, he has a set or a hand like the KQs that can often outdraw you. You're either a little ahead or way behind. So we need to be pretty sure you're ahead to call. The pot odds somewhat compensate for this.

yeah i really should have thought about it more. I don't like putting all my money in with a hand like that when i'm an even money favorite or a big underdog.

I wish i folded when he came over the top of me
