Hopefully you guys can help me on this. I play in a weekly hold em game, where the blinds are 1-2 with a max bet of 10 at any time, with a max of four raises. My problem is I can't seem to beat the game, I do well right off the bat and build my stack quite well. But there is a bunch of older people in the game ( no ofense to the elders out there) that like to take their draws all the way to the river, even on a gutshot. In the end I go broke.I don't know if it's that I don't know when to leave or that im not aggressive enough or what exactly it is. Can I please get some suggestions on what you guys out there would do?Like how much would you buy in for, and how would you play? Thanks alot

Essentially, to me, you are playing a limit game. Any pre-flop betting is going to generate a situation where you can't push anybody off a hand. So, I'd look at this game from a limit point of view.If you can't get folks to lift the cap, you might suggest that they switch the game to a normal 5-10 limit game. You're basically playing that anyway.

I used to play the mini-blind 4/8 on UB with 1/2 blinds, and I lost my *** until I figured out that it's OK to limp and fold preflop. Then I started winning when I realized I didn't need to limp so much.Optimal play in this sort of structure is tighter than you might imagine. Yeah, it's cheap to limp in, but it's also cheap to wait for decent starting hands. I think this is going to play more like limit after the flop. I'd bet the max nearly all the time. The chasers are going to have pot odds to chase even when you're betting the maximum. Variance is a *****.
