So I've finally built my internet bankroll up to the point where I can take a shot at playing $5-10 limit. I've played at the 6-max tables for about a week, and am only breaking even. I find that the play here is probably the toughest I've ever encountered - it's a food chain of eagles preying on tight aggressive players preying on loose aggressive players preying on anyone passive. The skill in play varies from very, very skilled reads and three bets with just bottom pair at the appropriate time to push someone off a second pair, to absolute donkeys who play ANY two suited cards and chase all the way. It seems that the conventional rules of poker are thrown out of the window in 6-max - second pair becomes three-bettable in many situations on the flop, Ax and Kx becomes raisable, and AA/KK/QQ get cracked more often than not when all 5 players call preflop. Part of the difficulty is the very loose aggressive players on the table, who will raise every other hand and make it that much more expensive to see a flop. Also, your'e playing from the blinds 1/3 of the time, so starting hand requirement change a lot also. So, any general advice about how to beat these tables? I know more aggression and loosening up starting hand requirements is a start. A 77 on a 10 6 5 board is often good, but the guy with the A6 will three bet it anyway on the flop anyway. So, any general advice on how to change my play for these tables will be appreciated.
