First hand at the table, everybody is basically an unknown. Villain's name looked vaguely familiar and I thought he might be a decent TAG type player who I'd played with before, but I wasn't sure. Obviously I assume he's stealing pre-flop since he's on the button.Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)Preflop: Hero is BB with 9 :D , Q :D . 2 folds, Button raises, 1 fold, Hero calls.Flop: (4.50 SB) T :D , 4 :) , 7 :)(2 players)Hero checks, Button bets, Hero raises, Button 3-bets, Hero caps, Button calls.Turn: (6.25 BB) T :)(2 players)Hero bets, Button raises, Hero calls.River: (10.25 BB) 8 :club:(2 players)Hero checks, Button bets, Hero folds.Final Pot: 11.25 BB

I like the flop check raise. If he calls that one you have enough outs and fold equity to bet the turn. But after his three bet it lookes like he is really interested in this hand and you probably will have to see the showdown with him.So call the flop three bet, call the turn, fold river UI.

I take a stab at this pot with the flop check raise, like you did. After that, knowing I need to improve, I play passively.Call the 3bet.Check Call the turn.Check Fold the river. The flop CR is good for fold equity. After being 3bet, your fold equity is minimal again.Capping at this pint will not help this. You will have to improve to win.And You don't have the odds to cap for value.

Yep, only thing I don't like is the turn bet. You're most certainly getting raised.
Well if you are going to cap preflop, then you pretty much have to lead the turn. But that's exactly why I don't like capping the flop.--CM

I think you're spot on here. The flop cap is where I went wrong in this hand. The turn lead is pretty much mandatory after capping the flop, but capping the flop was probably incorrect.
