two questions in nl. kq

Recommended Posts

i've read in several sources not to vary your preflop raises in NL. but how about UTG or early position. Does KQs deserve the same raise as JJ? i try to be careful here, and UTG or MP i basically play for $2, with the second bet coming on the flop (unless flop obviously hits someone hard) for information. this limits my early position play to premium hands, except in very shorthanded etc. but my confusion with KQ vs JJ is here:let's say the flop is A-Q-2. for simplicity, let's say blinds fold. do i still show aggression, or is it best to check-call or check-fold here? (i tend to think that to call preflop they must have at least AK, AQ, or KQ, or pair, and a bet here could tell me which it is, but i can't help but think JJ is something you probably check-fold and KQ is something you bet).second question: you are on the button with TT with a heart. you raise 4BB preflop and CO calls. flop is 4h-2d-Qh, and the CO bets 12BB. what do you do? (disclaimer: i folded, and saved my money for the next two hands when the CO went broke)thanks in advance. (sorry for all the stupidity).

i tend to agree w/your idea of check-folding jj and betting kq w/that flop bec you should be ok as long as he doesnt have an ace and you could def represent one here but most likely your hand is good...if he raises you will prolly have to fold but if he just calls then things could get tricky esp if ur out of position -- depends a lot on your opponent as to what u do after the flop w/this hand imo..the only thing is if you bet w/jj and get called or raised its an easy decision as opposed to the kqin the second case i would fold for sure

EP with JJ? I'll bet the pot, if im under the gun I'll raise it 3-4x BB... I would play KQs the same way... Not varying your preflop raises is great... and with the Jacks, depending on how many people are left, if the flop bring something like Q 9 6, Bet the pot again regardless of if you think someone has a Queen... Your aggression will be paid off.
