Casino Play

ive been having a problem when i go to the casino and sit down i seem to get very nervous while playing and make plays im not accustumed too i have been playing online and also in weekly home games in the pittsburgh,pa area and am pretty confident most of the time but when i go to a casino i seem to really tense up i was wondering if anyone else has had this and what you did about it?

Have played in a Casino much? Sounds like you may be a little excited and/or nervous. Maybe have a drink or two, depending on your tolerance. Other than that, you'll get used to it soon.

I get a little more passive sometimes, but I think that's bound to happen, it's a little easier to bluff and be super-aggressive when all you have to do is push a button.As far as your problem is concerned, a beer could help you to relax if you have the tolerance, just try to work on feeling at ease. The more hours you log the easier that will get.

You play up at Salamanca in NY? If you do, let me know the next time you go up... i'll give you a $100 lesson... heheheI get nervous at any new game. Even at places i've played before, a lot of times the first hand that i am in/win of the day my hands are shaking. as the game gets going i calm down. I've never been nervous throughout an entire game, so have a beer.

it took me a while before my hands didnt shake every time i did something, maybe like 3 or 4 sessions. i remember the first time i bluffed someone i had to get up from the table and take a walk after the hand because i was so jittery. just give it a while.

I think most people get a little jittery their first few times in live game, especially at a casino. I think it took me about 3 or 4 trips before I was able to settle in and relax. Each time I could feel my heart pounding when I would get in a big hand or hit a flop hard. But after I got through that first big hand, I would calm down. Then I would be fine the rest of the session. But now I'm fine from the get-go.

Sure. We've all been there. It passes. Maybe you should just play super duper tight until you're comfortable.

Everyones nervous the first time. Then it gets easier and more relaxed. To me its actually alot more fun Playing live than online to just be there in the atmosphere hanging out and trying to make money.

Online sucks. Live rocks. Live is loose as all hell. You see all kinds of people, and I do mean ALL kinds.

Even after 20+ years of playing I still get a rush sitting down at the table. If I didn't it wouldn't be as fun.

Jitters are common. Beer is good advice, just don't over do it and end up giving your money away cause you are lit. Some other thoughts: Walk around the room a little and get used to the atmosphere before sitting down. Play at a small limit table just to get situated. That way bets are controlled and bluffs a little less likely. Plus the dealer usually keeps those moving real fast. You can always move up later. Try talking to the other players. Some will blow you off, but some will respond and that will get your mind off the nervousness. Just remember to stay focused on the play and action.
