Captain_Walt 0
Yesterday I had the worst session I have EVER EVER had. Some of it was due in part to bad beats but other just to my own terrible play. I was sitting at a two tables that each had a player with nearly identical stats. 55/15/4 over 200+ hands. This hand and the following ones I will post the Villain will have stats similar to those (these maniacs had huge stacks and kept flopping aboslute monsters not due to their good play).Spare no mercy and tear this apart... I need a serious thrashing after last night.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)MP2 ($182.40)MP3 ($229.35)CO ($570.05)Button ($85.85)SB ($149.35)BB ($187.55)UTG ($195)UTG+1 ($131.95)Hero ($182.25)Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A, J. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls $2, Hero calls $2, 4 folds, SB completes, BB checks.Flop: ($8) 5, 3, 8(4 players)SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 bets $4, Hero raises to $10, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+1 calls $6.Turn: ($28) 3(2 players)UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $10, UTG+1 calls $10.River: ($48) T(2 players)UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $15, UTG+1 calls $15.Final Pot: $

Captain_Walt 0
I know this is brutal, but do you put the Villain on a space? A high spade? pairing the board scare him at all? After the river hit I really didn't think he had the flush... how should I bet it if that is what I think?

And you can't bluff him by betting $15 in a $48 pot.Raise or fold pf, and bet more on the turn / river.
Scott3705 0
riase of fold preflop. Since you didn't raise, fold the flop.
DonkSlayer 1
Call the flop and fold turn.
crankin 0
I don't mind the pre-flop call. And, while it isn't my favorite play, I don't mind the raise on the flop to try and take the hand away. However, if you're going to raise here, you need to raise more. Villain only has to call $6 into a $16 pot. If he's betting his flush draw, you're letting him draw too cheaply. If you choose to raise, make it around pot size, something like $15.Now, beyond the flop, you're just spewing money. If you're going to make a play at the pot, you've got to bet more than 1/3 the pot.My guess is villain turned over something like Ks8, Ks5, Qs8, Qs5.
krup24 0
fold or raise pfAJ is way to vulnerable for a limp especially full ring in EP. I have learned to fold this hand unless the table is uber passive. As played C/F the flop.

I'd rather just get away from it on the flop w/ no money in the pot.
krup24 0
I'd rather just get away from it on the flop w/ no money in the pot.yeah i agree this is an easy C/F on the flop
Captain_Walt 0
I know I am getting flack for this hand which is what I expected.. BUT...I would never try this against a normal "average" no read etc player. This player is playing 55%+ hands and can have absolutely anything. This is the only reason I am making a play at the pot in the first place. Had it been a remotely "normal" player this would have been easy c/f. Having position on him with the board pairing and the 4 to the flush comming I just thought it might be enough for him to lay down whatever junk he had unless he had a high spade.Even with this in mind I still played it terribly....not firing enough of a bluff and not knowing when to just give up.Thanks.For those who want results he ended up having K
Jordan 1
if you want to run these bluffs you really need to bet stronger than less the half pot.stick to the 3/4 (75%) size bets. this way it's very difficult for your opponents to know when you do and do not have a hand, cause you always bet near the pot every time.betting half to less than half pot bets are normally not going to get folds from draws, but betting 3/4 will.and if I bet that river I bet $30, $15 will get an insta call from a lot of hands.- Jordan
fckthis 0
fold pf.
Jordan 1
fold pf.as annoying as i hate 'fold pf' responses...this is correct.this is 9 handed, your OOP with a weak hand. raise/fold. Don't limp.AJo isn't likely going to win you money in the long run, unless you play well postflop. This is a hand for late position, only really...long handed.- Jordan
iggymcfly 0
I don't play a lot of full-ring, but I do know that if you're going to attack a loose weak-passive player, you need to fire some chips in the pot. If you're going to play this PF, you need to raise to $8 or $9, and on the flop, you should make a real raise for over three times his bet, not the "tricky" raise for less. That tricky raise only works on a smart TAG that will put you on a good hand, not on a loose-passive that just wants to hit a card.On the turn, you should be betting at least half the pot too. If you price a LAP in, he'll come along with you every time. The river is the one street I actually like though. You're not expecting to win this very often, but if he doesn't have a spade or at least two pair or something, you'll steal a lot of pots for cheap here.
