Just because I'm nosy and curious. I guess I wanted to post this for inspiration being a rookie in the poker world. I was reading some of the goals for August and it looks like there are some members who are doing very well. Of course that's bound to happen in a community of this size. But I started from scratch a few months ago and have built up a very modest bankroll from a $50 deposit playing lower limits (minus a few cash outs). But it's encouraging to hear of the success of others, which is the purpose for my poll. Feel free to share if you'd like.

Thanks!

EDIT: I just realize I posted this in the wrong forum. Feel free to move to General Chat. Sorry/Thanks!

I have just been living paycheck to paycheck for the last two years. I pay all my bills, then its off to either the casino or the bar. So my bankroll is always under $500.

This poll becomes meaningless when it gets moved to General. It'll be amazing how many people have more than 100k.

I am currently not interested in progressing to higher limits/buyins, so I'm skimming the BankRoll down to 1000k each month.

Instead of a new-to-me sporty car, I think I"ll be modifying my 1995 Cougar with this poker money / Ford Focus donation.

I guess the roll would be about $5500 if it was still intact
Thats' with $250 deposited and all old losses repayed and about $500 in bonus.

I'm kind of lazy and not driven to multitable and take shots nor grind for rakeback; but I"m satisfied with my win rate

Please do not buy a Ford Focus.

Or, if you do, do it here:

http://sunsetcountryford.com

and at least support my family tongue.gif

Seriously though. I've been driving an 01 Focus for about 2 years now, and I've had more problems with it than I want to talk about.

Before that, I had an 03 and an 04, and they were a lot better, so it could just be the older ones, but still.

I wouldn't buy one, given my experiences.

But, do buy a Ford, and do buy it from my Dad. tongue.gif

***************

My roll is about $280, but it should be about 3k. I've cashed out a lot/gambled a lot away, unfortunately. I'm starting from scratch again with the $235 I had yesterday.

After several $50 deposits which I lost quickly, I decided to get SSHE and start playing seriously. Nobody likes to lose. I deposited another $100 and started bonuswhoring.

Now I am at about 1.5k and definitely have a lot more fun now that I am winning!

no, you see, I have a 2001 Focus. (wow, what a coincidence)
But I'm looking to possibly donate it and use some of the money (see, if I donate it, that frees up my "charity expense" each month) to put into my 1995 Cougar.

I actually enjoy the Fous and am going back and forth with what to do with this extra cash.... Modify Focus (sure, lots of mods avail; but in the end, it's underpowered/small/and void of any sound system, thus requiring lots of money. Cougar hs hi-end aftermarket system and a nice V8 but 130k miles.
Actually got the Focus as my daily driver to preserve the Cougar. Now, I want to just drive the Cougar and have the awesome sound system with me each day, since otherwise, I"m not taking it out enough. Oh and the Focus AC is out and $1000 to fix it; so that makes me want to give it away as well.

Hmmm...

I'm real sketchy about mid 90's American cars. They tend to be poorly made. That being said, if you have the Cougar in good condition still, then modding it up isn't a bad idea.

As for the Focus, you are right... underpowered/etc. biggrin.gif

I'm not quite the car guy I used to be since I got into poker.

you know... I"m sitting here trying to decide:

NoteBookPC.
Cable Modem and Cable other rooms
New EntertainmentsSytem
CanNoteBokks be Plugged into Home Receivers ??
Donate Cougar, Modify Focus
Donate Focus, Modify Cougar
Donate Cougar and Focus, get Golf/Tiburon/MuscleCar
save and decide later...

Then I realize, I want to play poker 90% of the time I"m free. So what will I want to do with my winnings anyway?

Wow, Actuary! I didn't know you were a millionaire! You should think about playing a couple WPT events just for fun.

Anyway, my BR narrowly makes the 5K to 10K group right now, although my results have been pretty sketchy lately. The profit I've been make playing 1/2 NL is weak, and I think the rake structure compared to 2/4 is pretty punishing. I never though of rake as being all that important in NL games, but looking at my results, I've payed 7.5 buy-ins worth the last 2 or 3 weeks which is more than my net profit after rake.

I'm taking a shot at a juicy home game this weekend, so if all goes well, I'll be in good shape, and I'll be able to move right back up immediately. If not, well it's not going to be fun for a while, as I plod away at all this marginal bullshit. I guess if it kept up, I might have to go somewhere with rakeback, because rake kills at these low-limit tables.
Lady luck's my fuck-buddy.

Depending on what you include I guess I'm probably somewhere around $3k right now. That includes cash I have set aside for live games, the money I have on three sites online and some money I have in the bank that I'm thinking about using to make a down payment on a car to replace the piece of junk I drive right now.

Zach, since you seem to be the expert on Fords, do you know anything about 2000 Ford Escorts? I'm looking at buying one right now, but not sure how reliable it would be.

rolleyes.gif You caught me.

Nobody needs to specifically state where they are at, they can vote on the poll and that accomplishes the same thing without opening themselves up. Don't be so quick to sh*t on the n00b. cool.gif

Besides, there are plenty of other threads with members mentioning the size of their bankrolls. Didn't really need to create a separate thread if I had ill intentions.

I'm really not an expert at all. My Dad just owns a Ford dealership, so I've driven all sorts of Foci. I've never had an Escort.

I'm pretty sure there are some used car sites on the net that will give you a rundown on them. I'm not sure if Kelley Blue Book has a website, but I'd try Googling that.

Is the 2000 Escort the ZX2?

Yeah, ZX2, 2-door, pretty sweet car for only $6k. My uncle is a mechanic in CA, so I plan to try to get in touch with him and get his opinion.

Am I the only person who keeps most of his bankroll off of poker sites? Think how much interest the sites are making off of lazy people.
