PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

MP1 (t5755)
MP2 (t8630)
MP3 (t4320)
CO (t720)
Hero (t10150)
SB (t3535)
BB (t5639)
UTG (t8755)
UTG+1 (t4415)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 3, 3.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls t150, 4 folds, Hero raises to t500, 1 fold, BB calls t350, UTG+1 raises to t850, Hero calls t350, BB calls t350.

I hate the limp-min-reraise... 1 because it screams strength, but it also screams donkey....

I call here only to hit a set, or fold.

Flop: (t2625) J, 8, 8 (3 players)
BB bets t600, UTG+1 raises to t3565, Hero folds, BB folds.

Final Pot: t6790

Fold on flop as said.

What do you think? I had a big stack at the table and was looking to get some aggression w/ a decent hand, in position.
I may not be a meteorologist, but it sure looks like it's rainin' bitches!

I would personally fold to the pf reraise.

Even if you do hit your set, you could very well be behind a much larger set, because like you said the limp-min-reraise screams strength.

I just don't think this is a spot to get aggressive, because your hand plays so poorly after the flop unless you hit the set, which happens to few of times to make this play

Just see the flop for cheap, set it or forget it

Do you know the odds of UTG hitting a set when we hit?
That is just silly.
We need to call this raise.

fwiw, I limp preflop though.
I'd like to encourage Blinds to come in.

I limp preflop as well. 33 is very hard to play postflop if you don't hit a set. Basically 7/8 of the time, you'll fold on the flop. That's why you want a lot of players in a pot when you have a small pair. When you flop your set, you can easily drag along the few other stragglers in the pot all the way to showdown and win enough to compensate for the losses when you don't hit your set.

Anyways, in this hand, I call the raise. It's only 350 more just to see the flop. If you hit your set on a board of low cards, you're in heaven and you'll probably be able to bust UTG+1 who will play his aces or kings like he has the nuts.

In this case, you have no reason to bet out on the flop. So, good fold.

yup. Limp the button. Your cutting your odds of getting paid if you hit by raising the blinds out.
