Lost a good friend this weekend. 25 years old... his father found him dead in the living room.

Heroin addiction.

Been a bad few days guys... that's why I haven't been around. Just bummin... Just thought I'd share. If any of you have a close friend suffering from this terrible affliction, intervene now and do whatever you can to help them even if it means locking them in a room for a month... cuz life is just too short to die young. 25 fucking years old....

That is all.... sorry for the bummer of a thread.

Have lost a couple of friends to drug addictions or drug related accidents. It's not fun to go through. My condolences.

A friend of mine from Kansas City... everyone thought he was this dorky kid, pretty straightedge, drank once in a while, but was all set to go to law school at Dartmouth (or something like that). He disappears for a month. Turned out he was on a drug binge. Nobody knew. He got stabbed buying an 8 ball or something.

I'm sorry to hear about that, Ace. My best wishes are with you. Don't beat yourself up or anything

I'd like to thank all of you for coming forward with your thoughts during this tough time. Last night some friends had a little get together at a dive bar he used to hang out at to share stories, support one another, and have a farewell toast in his memory. If there is a bright side, I feel like it brought our crew a lot closer. It's just a part of life... it's just a sin that it happened to someone like him. He was a great guy...one of the funniest bastards I ever met and I will miss him dearly.

Again thank you all. It's good to know total strangers have hearts and are willing to share their own experiences.

We're burying him tommorrow.

"This body holding me, reminds me of my own mortality. Embrace this moment. Remember, we are eternal. All this pain is an illusion."

Eerily enough, for some reason I've had random thoughts about death lately. It's been kind of making me nervous, like maybe my subconscious knows something that I'm not yet aware of. Anyway, that quote from Parabola was ringing in my head while reading your post, and I know of all people you would see the connection.

I honestly couldn't ever imagine losing a close friend. As bad as this may sound, I could more easily picture losing close relatives than close friends, maybe not parents, at least not until (g)old(en's) age, but i couldn't imagine losing one of my closest friends.

I couldn't even begin to process how you must feel. Take comfort in the times you shared, and appreaciate the time he was with you, even if it was far too short. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

"You're the only one who can hold your head up high
Shake your fist at the gates saying, 'I have come home now!
Fetch me the Spirit, the Son and the Father,
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended
It's time now
My time now
Give me my wings.'"

I take issue with this statement, but will bite my tongue due to the somber nature of this thread.
