Jadaki 1
1/2 NL full ring.Hero is viewed as TAG. Villian is new to table, slightly laggy.Hero is SB with A K Preflop: A couple limpers, CO raises to $12, button folds, Hero calls, BB calls, MP2 calls, rest fold.Flop: 6 5 5 Hero checks, BB checks, MP2 checks, CO bets 15, Hero calls (very quickly), BB and MP2 muck.Turn 3 Hero checks, SB thinks and pushes all in for $93, Hero calls.Read at this point. He didn't like anyone calling his flop bet at all, it's written all over his body language. When he pushed in he looked scared, and was doing everything possible to avoid eye contact with me.Thoughts?
Zach6668 513
If villain is laggy, why not reraise preflop and take the lead?
krup24 0
Sometimes you just gotta go with ur reads
Jadaki 1
If villain is laggy, why not reraise preflop and take the lead?Bad position was my reasoning at the time.
loxo 0
Bad position was my reasoning at the time.Maybe more reason to show lots of strength and try and take it down then, plus it avoids having to make a decision after a flop like this?IDK, could be very wrong.
JadeTiger 0
i dont like the call at all. I mean if you are trying to just out play someone for some reason then ok, but otherwise your hand just isnt strong enough to make that kind of play. Its generally not profitable to start making all-in calls with Ace high. But the more gamble in you the more calls you will make. To me, even if you do have the best hand, id release the hand on the flop or reraise preflop to find out where you are. being out of position makes it hard for you to continue playing this hand so the reraise is almost necessary to get the proper info, and if you are willing to get it all in on the turn why not get your info preflop with a big reraise? Jadaki 1
I think reraising the flop or leading the turn would have been the best play.
DonkSlayer 1
I think I hate being oop with a drawing hand in NL. Reraise preflop.
AlphaOmega 0
I think you should three-bet since live games tend to be real loose. If you are given a chance to isolate with this hand I think you should take it regardless of your bad position or lack of reads on your opponents. As for the turn play, you can probably tell better than any of us what's going on. With the information that you've given us, I'd be hesitant to call this since I have no read and no idea if he's using a reverse tell (If I were in villain's shoes, I would probably act the same way if I had AA/KK)If you planned to be there for a while, I'd lean more towards calling this, though I'm not entirely certain that it makes it better than folding. Obviously you benefit greatly from the image that this brings, whether you win or lose.
DonkSlayer 1
Alpha, in the NL world, we call it a "reraise" or "third raise."just messin with ya man.
Scott3705 0
Doyle would say to just fold it on the flop. I think i'd go w/ that.
NoSup4U 0
I think I hate being oop with a drawing hand in NL. Reraise preflop.I hate reraising pf oop with a drawing hand. Flop comes like it does, and now you're in the lead, with a huge pot, that you're almost committed to betting into.I would have folded the flop, but if you have a read, then I'm ok trusting that. I do agree though, you just don't want to call him down. I've made that mistake a number of times, where my read was dead on, but the donkey had something like A3 flush draw and just happened to pair his 3 or something. Reraise him at some point so he has the option to fold. Flop is preferable imo as it costs less.Mark
Jadaki 1
This mostly comes down to at what point is it best to take control of the hand if your sure the villian does not have a pair. After playing through the hand several times, I think leading the turn is best in this situation.
