In light of what actuary just said I decided to make this spreadsheet for SNG results. Its simple but it may be helpful.I made it for 10 dollar sit-n-gos with a one dollar rake. If you are playing anything different you would have to change some of the numbers in the equations.Sorry for posting if you think this is worthless. It's got my numbers from the last two days just because I needed some numbers to start with.

coolsince I play a mix, I have 1 line per Sng, with running totalsColumns are like:Nth STT PlayedDateStakesFee10 Man or 6 ManPlacePrizeAmount Paid to PlayProfitRunning Total ProfitRunning Total Amount Paid to PlayRunnig ROII think I'll try to add Running Total Variance, tooyours is nice and compact; but you don't see the trend since it's constantly updated.

i'm thinking Variance is just the square of Standard deviation, so it would be easy to get one from the other.what I'm not sure about is do I want to group them into like 100 at a time or just look at it as 1 data entry per STT. And do I want to look at Var per Type and BuyIn , or overall. And I"m sure the answer will be all of the above because I"m a math nerd.

I love math nerds make live so much easier on me, I don't have to go digging through old college text books to find this stuff thank god. I can't get the spread sheet to download and woudl like to take a look at it any suggestions?

I've never taken a prob/stats class...I'm more of a calc nerd.

I've got a spreadsheet that will calculate some variance numbers based on the statistics from PokerTracker for cash games. I'm assuming the calculations would be the same for other games. Unfortunately, the SD is one of the input values, since PT gives that to me for cash games. If you don't have it for SnGs, you'll have to do the math yourself. My favorite feature is the reverse loss calculator: ok, I lost X dollar, I shouldn't feel bad because there was a 1 in 3.2 chance that it was going to happen eventually. In fact, I just added these fields to the bottom of this spreadsheet.Enter your own win rate per 100 hands and per hour in the appropriate spots, and your standard deviation per 100 and per hour in the appropriate spots. The calculations below will then show you the bankroll you need for a specific risk of ruin. For example, in the numbers I have in there using my months-old data, I would need just over 600 to have a 10% risk of losing all my bankroll. For the fields below that, by the word "Loss:", if you enter a dollar value, the line below it will show you the chance that you will lose that much. I'm not sure how to interpret that exactly, although I think it means "the chance that you will have a losing streak that bad at some point in your life, based on your current variance."

That's a good summary, but when I've used spreadsheets in the past they include date and individual result as well as the reason you lost.
yeah, i care about neither of those to be honest with you.plus, i'd probably put bad luck for all losses anyways, so it would be pretty worthless :club:

I was doing that, and it was always "stupid fish gets lucky on river."
