PlzFoldNow 0
Ok, so there was a $50 splash pot when I was playing 3/6 at the casino last night, and I was dealt J 8 . Of course everyone limped in with the amazing odds. There was $74 in the pot and 9 players. The flop was 10 6 5 . Now, getting 25:1 on my money, I would pretty much have to call any bet assuming I have any chance of making a winner. Obviously, I hate my hand, but if someone bet, do I call solely on the chance of hitting some miracle backdoor draw?

NoShowJones 0
YESYESYESYESYESI guess I'll be the idiot who says no. Running spades are garbage. I wouldn't even count that as half an out.Your backdoor straight draw is... well... just about garbage also since you don't even connect at the moment. I'd count that as half an out at best. If the person directly before you bets, your 25:1 pot odds aren't near good enough for me. Let's say you're last to act, and 8 players before you put in 1 bet. Now you're getting 33:1. For a draw worth less than one out, this don't cut it for me. You're really only looking for a straight here. An 8 or a J on the turn doesn't really improve your hand much. I fold this instead of wasting my money. Just my two cents.

PlzFoldNow 0
That's what I figured. I would have called a bet, but didn't need to as all 9 checked. The turn came a 9, at which point I did call a bet along with many others, and spiked a Q on the river to win a $140 or so pot.
roadhawg 0
first off did you limp with this hand? or were you in the BB or something? cause if you limped with this hand that would be a horrible mistake. and jsut cause the pot odds say you should call with anything, it doesnt mean you should. dont think just about pot odds, think about what they could have too. with this many people in the pot you have to think that one of them already has a flush draw so pretty much the Jack, nine, and seven of spades are out. and most likely if you are going to call so will someone with something like KJ (or something like that, i am not saying that hand exactly but some hand with a jack that will have you outkicked). so really you are just drawing to runner runner straight hoping that the flush doesnt fill too so IMO this is a must fold. In fact J8s or J9o would be borderline raising hands (if it's been limped to you in late position). It's 2-gapped which is certainly enough to justify the call.Or maybe you do't actually bother reading posts before replying? We have a lot of backdoor potential.I guess I could be wrong, but I would also be calling a bet on the turn if a Q came. Even though it's a gutshot that's not drawing to the nuts, I'd still have some pretty incredible odds to chase, since only KJ would beat me.

As long as you get 12-1 on the turn call, which you will easily get unless it's bet/raised/3-bet, etc in front of you.
