Hey guys (and girls),I won a satellite into my biggest tourney yet coming up next month. Its the Southern Classic in Biloxi ($1000 buy in, 300-400 people). Ive played in lots of smaller tourneys and done fairly well. This is my first tourney where it doesn't become a 'Move-in' tourney after the first hour....I hate those. With this one, you get 7000 in chips and 45 minute blind levels starting at 25-50. Here is my question, What are some good ways you guys like to build your stack? I mean I usually just wait for my cards to come (seems to be the smartest) and pick up small pots. If the cards dont' come or come cold...your done. Any good thoughts....( maybe things like coming over the top of lots of limpers to pick up pots) Anything would help. Thanks in advance!! haha do i make and sense??

smaller tourneys generally give you much less than 7000 starting chips so you are probabaly not accustom to starting w/that much..the starting blinds are very small in relation to your stack 1-140 so i would play many hands early on esp if i am in good position and even if i am in ep i will limp w/ any suited connector, pp, and even suited (1-2) gappers t times...your ep limps could make your opponents fear a big hand and you might not raised bec of that and you do want a lot of action w/these hands,,,and even if you get raised up a little its not a big deal as far as your stack is concerned and these hands tend to pay off well..i would even do an occasional raise from ep w/a 6-8suited..it will only cost 150 when you start w/7000 and it could loosen up your table image a lot...plus if you hit it really works out...if i get a lot of chips early i will play many hands aggresively while never risking any significant portion of my stack(10-15%)
