Hello Everyone Once Again,I woke up early this morning and to my surprise just like everyone else.. noticed threads were deleted. On saturday night when the board was intruded he managed to get himself access to one of our moderator accounts which let him delete the threads.I've done some tweaks which should let me able to recover any future deleted threads if the problem were to come back.I'll be working throughout the day trying to resolve any additional security problems. Thanks,Gov

Ummmm ...... for those of us that were gone over the weekend, can we get a recap on what happened here? Who screwed up the forum?
The forum was down saturday night, unfortunatly we were dealing with a forum hacker. He left his mark by linking to a virus script hosted on a different server. For those who visited the forum saturday evening (July 15th) using Internet Explorer I personally adivse that you run a virus scan. Before running your scan make sure your software is up to date.If you don't have AntiVirus software I suggest downloading AVG Free Edition. Check for updates, click test center and then do a full system scan. The virus that was run from an external script was a WMF virus. There are variations of this virus but if you want to read up further please follow the link below:http://virusbusters.itcs.umich.edu/viruslist/wmf.htmlThe security holes have been patched and the forum has been upgraded from 2.1.6 to 2.1.7 (Which was released July 13th).Top 2 Internet Safety Tips:- Download and set Mozilla Firefox as your default browser. Since Internet Explorer is installed by default with the operating system, viruses attack the software with everything they have. The browser has a lot of security holes and hackers have exploited them countless times.- Install Virus protection. I recommend AVG Free Edition which comes with free updates. Keep it running at all times and do yourself a favour and make sure it's up to date.Firefox + AVG = A safer browsing experience!

Does that suggest that the hacker had access to forum passwords and account email addresses? If so, I would recommend anyone that has the same password for this site as their contact email address, change them immediately.

I would imagine that stuff such as passwords would be encrypted so nobody would be able to access them. Its sad to think somebody would go to the effort of doing all of this.

All passwords are encrypted, he had access at one point to change account passwords but that's his limitation.

Oh, thank you for the quick reply. You obviously work hard and suffer the greatest nuisance because of this. Hope you have got more than 3 hours sleep last night, and thanks for the polite responses even/especially to people quite agitated by this.
