bascomeb 0
Dutch Boyd asked the question if you have Ak in the bb and the sb pushes all in with QJ on the very first hand of the main event, would you call? I was shocked to hear Gavin Smith and Sebok say that they wouldnt call! I have read the Matros article and I can't believe these pros said they would give up that edge to double up their chips? Seriously no one is this good to give up on this edge.
Mercury69 3
That's not much of an edge.Oh, wait, it is! 64% to 35% or thereabouts. Stupid donkey pros!
insano 0
Yea but what he said after that made a lot of sense as well.Doubling up there is not going to help you enough in the long run to justify the call.
solo319 0
So your saying you dont think there will be a better spot in the tournament then getting your money in as a 60/40 favorite.........wow ur sick dude

If so, how long into day1 do you last ?

As far as ego goes, it has nothing to do with that. If you are a player that jumps at the chance to put every chip in front of you in the pot preflop with AK , I assure you , you are not going to consistently cash or win in tournaments. doublemeup 0
I agree with Gavin, only QQ, KK, and AA I would call with there.

If so, how long into day1 do you last ?I do, every single time. Chances are, I won't make it very far, but if I do get lucky and double up once every hour, assuming day one takes 10 hours, I'll have about about 10 million chips (or 12,5% of all the chips in the tournament), which is a chance I'd easily be willing to make. ;)More likely though is, that if I survive the first couple allins I'll have a big enough stack, that losing an allin won't hurt me.But then, maybe Smith really is good enough to accumulate chips without taking risks. I'm done in this discussion. Just keep playing your A game, and I'll keep putting my Neteller card in the ATM.

ForRealDD 0
you are done because you know you are wrong. How the fuck do you get to the conclusion of "wrong" when I have over $20,000 in tournament cashes in the first 7 months of this year and have cashed consistently for the last 3 years. Tell me exactly what is wrong here?

I don't think I'd willingly take a coinflip at the beginning of a tournament, but I know, I am not good enough to give up a 3:2 edge, anytime.
