Okay guys (and girls), I'm feeling a little sado-masochistic so I'm starting this thread with the expectation that I will be bombarded with FF.However, I also hope to elicit a few comments and/or recommendations. As I have mentioned I am planning on getting married June 18th, 2005, and thankfully my fiance also has the same plans. As a favour we are going to be making CDs for our guests and have come up with some songs to include on the CD. If anyone has any suggestions (other than not to get married :-) ) I would love to hear them. Here are some of the songs we will be including;1. Dream Come True - Frozen GhostIt's gonna be our first song. It was between this and At Last by Etta James but the words to Dream Come True are so appropriate.2. What A Wonderful World - Louis ArmstrongMy wife will dance with her father (who coincidentally looks like a white Louis Armstrong and is also named Louis) to this song. 3. In My Life - The BeatlesI will dance (Napolean Dynamite style) with my mother to this.4. Thank You - Led ZeppelinIt was actually an early consideration for our first dance but my grandmother is 80+ and we don't want to be the ones who kill her.5. Let's Get It On - Jack BlackThis will be played during the whole removing of the garter ceremony thingamajiggy.6. Wish You Were Here - Pink FloydThis is for all those that couldn't be there ie. passed away!7. This I Promise You - N' Sync :D It was the song we first danced to. 8. Hope On Board - Tom PettyShe may walk down the aisle to this one.9. The Wedding Song (There Is Love) - Peter, Paul & Maryor she may walk down the aisle to this one.10. Crazy Love - Van MorrisonWe're each picking a song for each other...this is my pick for her. She has not decided on a song for me yet. I suggested Closer by Nine Inch Nails but...11. At Last - Etta JamesWe decided to include it on the CD even though it won't be the first dance. We're also going to include a few instrumental versions of Beatles songs. We originally had planned to include Three is a Magic Number from Schoolhouse Rock but then our son came along and made 4 THE magic number. I'm sure there are a couple of more that I'm forgetting...FF= forum feces

Rock song, but slow almost ballad. Here are the lyrics, pretty good stuff IMO:I'm an ordinary manWith an ordinary lifeDoes she know that I'm aliveMan she's really something elseYou're the perfect oneAnd I don't expect a thing from you at allYou're the perfect oneAnd I can't even breatheYou are so unpredictableSometimes I'd like to be that wayYour charm so irresistableYou are really something elseYou're the perfect oneAnd I don't expect a thing from you at allYou're the perfect oneAnd I can't even breatheI get weak when she's aroundI can't speak when she's aroundYeah, she turns me upside downMan she's really something elseYeaaahYou're the perfect oneAnd I don't expect a thing from you at allYou are everythingThat I never knew I've always wantedYou're the perfect oneAnd I don't expect a thing from you at allYou're the perfect oneAnd I can't even breatheI'm an ordinary man

Well I'm glad the two of you share your plans. Now are you getting married to each other or someone else that day?

Your fiance lets you help with the music? Damn ... I have yet to see the DJ list of songs or been given the password to the website where we can add/delete songs from the playlist. Something about all that rap I listen to.

First of all, congrats! I'm getting married in November and my fiance and I are also doing all the planning so I know how much fun/not fun/fun/not fun it is! If you can handle country (some people just can't) a couple of faves of mine for this kind of occasion are "I Do" by Paul Brandt, and "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts. They're both pretty popular, maybe even overused, wedding songs, but hey ... I like 'em!Again, congrats and all the best!

Heh ... I'm not the world's biggest country fan, but I do like those songs. I've heard of Gil Grand, although I couldn't name a song. Jake Mathews isn't ringing any bells. Related to Dave?

4. Thank You - Led ZeppelinIt was actually an early consideration for our first dance but my grandmother is 80+ and we don't want to be the ones who kill her. This is the song I wanted during the unity candle ceremony, but alas, our church required churchy music. We had a bell choir play a hymn instead. It turned out beautifully.5. Let's Get It On - Jack BlackThis will be played during the whole removing of the garter ceremony thingamajiggy.I love THE D!!!! FHG is definitely out of the question for the reception. And Kielbasa.6. Wish You Were Here - Pink FloydThis is for all those that couldn't be there ie. passed away!I think this may be my all time favorite song.We had no dancing at our reception (by request of husband). He let me have everything else the way I wanted. No dancing was his only request.Hows about "I was Brought to My Senses" by Sting. "One" by U2"One Year of Love" by Queen "Some Kind of Wonderful" I like the Joss Stone version, myself"The Space Between" by Dave Matthews Bandand maybe"Stranglehold" by Ted NugentNikki

The first song my ex and I played at our reception was Billy Idol's White Wedding. He and I both have a warped sense of humor. We both thought it would be funny (and no, I wasn't pregnant). We just wanted to see how many people would speculate. Anyway, our actual love song was Sea of Love by the Honeydrippers. We were married in 1987... If you watched the Wedding Singer, you pretty much watch my reception. :D
