Briguy 0
Party 2/4, first hand at the table, I posted in CO (very juicy table, from the orbit I watched while waiting).Hero is in CO with J 2 :heart:Preflop: 1 fold, UTG+1 limps, UTG+2 limps, 2 folds, MP+2 limps, Hero checks, Button folds, SB completes, BB checks. (juicy!)Flop (6 SB): J 8 7 5 checks, Hero bets his monster, 3 callsTurn (4.5 BB): 3 :club:3 checks, Hero bets again, 3 (!) callsRiver (8.5 BB): 9 3 checks, Hero ???Can I value-bet/fold this spot? I really hate the board right now. But a better J would probably have raised earlier, and a T has to bet that river for fear of it checking through. Tabernak.I guess the question is: Who calls me that I beat?
DonkSlayer 1
Probably 9-8, A8, A9. Checking is probably better though. I'd be more worried about another J with a crappy enough kicker that there were no raises for your bets than I would be worried about a real made hand that was still checked to you. aim786 0
I'm checking that river. Aside from the fact that you might get raised if you bet, alot of hands call you and you dont beat those hands either.
screech 0
i would probably check/fold
GoingBusto 0
Haven't read replies. This is an easy check.GB
fckthis 0
wtf, J2 preflop? FCK the odds, thats a horrible call IMO. Next time fold shitty hand like this.
Zach6668 513
wtf, J2 preflop? FCK the odds, thats a horrible call IMO. Next time fold shitty hand like this.I guess infinite odds are not good enough.(He was BB and he checked)
Actuary 3
I guess infinite odds are not good enough.(He was BB and he checked)he was poster in CO.But, yeah.Folding would be silly.I hope he was kidding.so everyone thinks we are only called by better hands more than 50% of the times we are called by 1 players, 33% by 2..etc ? fckthis 0
I guess infinite odds are not good enough.(He was BB and he checked)WHOOPS. I retract mystatement.
The Nuts 0
check/call.If I went that far, I'm willing to see showdown with my hand for 1 more BB. If check and have to call 2 BB to see SD...I'm out.
Bubba83 0
check/fold river. no one is betting in a 4 way pot without the 10.
bascomeb 0
Would you guys consider it +EV to post as the CO? I always wait for bb.But yea check/fold def. this river
Briguy 0
I guess infinite odds are not good enough.(He was BB and he checked)You're both wrong...I was in CO and posted (thus, I had position for the whole hand).Did anyone actually read the history? The reason I'm wondering about the river is because it was checked to me in position.basecomb: I post in the CO on loose tables without much preflop raising. It's probably -EV, but it can't be that bad when there's regularly 4-6 to a flop coming in for one bet.
Actuary 3
yo,...Briguydid you read my posts!
Briguy 0
Yo Actuary, yes. I was just annoyed by the lack of comprehension elsewhere.I'm still unsure about the river. I think I lose value by checking. It's foolishly easy to fold to a check-raise on that board, so I wouldn't be risking 2 bets.I did check behind during play. MHWG, so perhaps I'm being results-oriented.
Actuary 3
yeah, all those check/fold responses confused me too!I agree, you are never losing 2, and over the long run, you just have to be ahead a percentage of the times you are called, depending on number of callers.I think it's close... I"ve certainly seen some Rvier bet proponents on this thread advocate much worse river bets, imo

Actuary 3
Zach was being funny.sorta.
Zach6668 513
sorta.I just saw Hero checks preflop, so I assumed it was BB... either way, I'm certainly not open folding preflop
LewFather 0
I wouldn't be scared off by the river card, Villian wouldn't have checked to you if he made his straight. Previously stated I'd be more concerned with another raggy J, I'd go for value here but I would like more reads.
