Justice Was Served...

Recommended Posts

Ok, here's a story that I would like to share with all of you. Just to show that there is some justice in the poker world.A few months ago, I started playing live in a casino and naturally, started at the cesspool of drawing fishies and theatre for badbeats, the 3/6 limit holdem tables. Anyway, I did pretty decent there by playing solid ABC poker, taking some sick beats here and there. Almost all of the bad beats that I took, I could rationalize it from the fish's point of view, eg "It was soooted", "I had an Ace, you gotta see a flop with an Ace", "I had high cards" or "I was already in the pot when you raised". It didn't really bother me that much since I knew that more bad beats means that my EV is higher since ppl play so bad. Then this hand came along. It was a kill pot, Villain is in the SB and had posted his $1 SB. I had KK in the CO. UTG limps and MP raises his kill to $12. It's folded to me and I think, sweet, I get to reraise and get heads up with MP. So I reraise to $18 and Villain flat calls another $17, BB folds, UTG folds and MP calls. Flop comes Q-6-x rainbow. Villain bets, MP folds and I raise, thinking he has something like AQ, KQ or even A6. He calls. Turn is a brick and he bets out to me again and I raise again. He calls. River is a 6, he checks and I check behind. He flips over Q-6o for a full house. Now, a small part of me was happy that I saved a bet on the end by checking, but most of me wanted to smash him on his head. He virtually cold called 3 bets preflop in a kill pot with Q-6o, not soooted, no straight potential (although you could argue he could make 2 different flushes and straights). I just mucked my hand and said nothing, while thinking "I wish I had a baseball bat right now".Now fast forward to a couple of weekends ago and I'm playing at the 5/10 game in another nearby casino while waiting for my 10/20 seat to open up. After 10mins, Mr Q-6 comes along and sits to my left. Then this hand comes along. Everyone folds to Mr Q-6 and he raises with AA. Button cold calls and BB calls. Flop comes 10-8-7. BB checks, Mr Q-6 bets, button calls and BB folds. Turn is a deuce, Mr Q-6 bets, button raises, Mr Q-6 3-bets and button caps. River is a Q, Mr Q-6 check-calls the button who flips up 10-8 for 2 pair. Now, Mr Q-6 goes ballistic and mutters to me "F0cking douchebag calls with that garbage...omg, what an a-hole". He turns red and is clearly upset at how horribly the button played and goes on tilt for a while. Meanwhile, I just smile and think "Justice baby...."

i thought it was good story. plus proves point that theres no point in getting upset at bad beats. well done :club:
Usually, I don't get too upset by bad beats but that bad beat that I took was kinda sucky cos I was just starting out playing live and also, I could not fathom why the dude would virtually cold call 3 bets with Q-6o, aside from a voice telling him "Are you ready to GAMBOOOOL???".My buddy told me that what I should have done was tell Mr Q-6 about the time that my Kings got cracked after some douchebag cold-called 3 bets with Q-6o.

It's much better to be the one to serve the said, "justice" than to merely watch... but good enough!
Nah, if I were to have served the "justice", I would be playing like a fish and them poker theory books tell me that in the long run, I will lose. That being said though, yeah, it would be really sweet if I had dished out the bad beat and topped it off by screaming "All you can eat baby".

That's would be the way to go.

This simply underlines what I am struggling to learn: How do I deal with asshats who call everything and, somehow, mange to draw out on you. Guys who call a 3x BB raise with Q7o and hit the flop, etc. It's aggaravating and I'll require therapy, but acceptance (not sure which step it is) of the fact that a lot of people play like ****wits and will hurt your stack is necessary.****ing donkeys.
