I need some help.I recently bought a car that was fixed up from salvage. We put a semi-new motor in it (28k) and did some body work. When we got the motor going we had two problems.1) It idles around 800 but appears to be too low. It shakes pretty badly at times like it's trying to die.2) When at low idle the belt slips at the A/C compressor. The compressor is fairly new, and will only slip when at low idle. Just recharged the tank as well.3.) Ok, maybe there are three problems. Check engine light was on and said the O2 sensor was tripped. I added some injector cleaner in hopes of fixing the problem, because that's what they told me to do. It didn't really make sense, but I did it anyway. I will get that checked once I'm through 1 tank.Any thoughts about maybe these problems are linked? I figure the O2 sensor is probobly what is throwing off the idle, since the fuel ratio is probobly off. But why would the A/C start locking up as well? I'm stumped.

timing belt could be a problem with the idle as well. What kind of car?

Steve,

It doesn't matter who you start because you have a horse shoe up your ass so far I'm not really sure how you get through the day. You must be gay.

May as well be rocket science to me, good luck with that.

Ford ZX-2. Timing chain would affect the car when running at all speeds though wouldn't it?

O2 sensor doesnt make sense, I have had o2 sensor problems, u just get horrible milage and performance.is it just idling bad or do u notice a loss in horsepower? plugs and wires could be an issue if you notice slow pickup, could also be your fuel filter, might need to be replaced. if its drives fine when gasing but idles bad, it might be not much fuel is geting through.fuel filter is also cheap.with the new motor you should have had new injectors right? or at least 27k miles on.they shouldnt be the problem.is it 5 speed or auto?and your a/c isnt a big deal, you should be able to bi=pass the a/c for the price of a new belt w/o air .unless you want air

I had problems with my car shaking and not accelerating very well.It wound up being the O2 sensor. So I dunno. It mostly did it when it was wet outside though.I know nothing about cars though.

I'm a transmission guy, not an engine guy... but I have about 35 mechanics at my beckon call, so I can ask around on Monday... but that probably won't help.Your idle problem could be any of the things already mentioned... EGR valve, Injectors, O2 sensor, ect ect.....As for the AC Compressor locking up... have you checked your tensioner? Tensioners go bad very frequently. Also you may need a new compressor, but you hope not. Many tensioners are very cheap, and that would be my guess, if the belt is just slipping off.
