Playing in a sit-n'-go $20 + $2 no limit hold-em table. About 15 hands into the tournament I was delt AA on the button. Wow. There was one caller when it became my turn to act. I raised the minimum and the big blind called. 3 players. Flop came J J 4 rainbow. Checked to me and I bet $100 expecting to take it down right there. BB folded and I was called by the 2nd player. I have about $1000 chips and my opponent has a little more. What could the caller have, a set?? This concerned me. The turn was another 4, still rainbow. He checked and I checked. The river was a rag. He went all in. After a lot of thought I decided to fold. When put in this position I always ask myself, "Do I want to go out with this hand." I said no and got away from it. I had no read on this player. If I had to play this hand over again I should have fired another $100 after the turn to gain information. I know, this one cost me because I slow played it. If the flop was ragged I would have charged ahead at this time. I have had excellent success with this play. What would have I gained with a big raise. $60. I would rather lose a little on a few hands with the potential of a big win. What are your thoughts?????

Pocket aces are tough with that board.... I agree with you should have tried to get some information on the turn. You opponet either has a jack or a 4 based on his river bet. :!:

if you are not sure you should have def bet the turn, then if he smooth calls and checks again on the river you can check behind and showdown for free

And I keep a case of Swisher Sweets in the trunk
So when I'm rollin', smokin', chokin', just floatin

Good fold. You should have raised more before the flop though.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Yeah... you really shouldn't even have to ask this question. The board was paired... twice. The guy went all in. Any pocket pair can turn to dust when the board gets paired.I agree with pretty much all of the advice given here. You should have raised more preflop. You should have bet out on the turn to make him pay for that river card and to give you a better read.Just stuff that will improve your game next time it happens I guess.
