ok ive been reading this book about 50 pages in and ive noticed in a lot of the example situations they use razz stud omaha. note that i am strictly a holdem player and have almost no idea what the hell he is talking about is the whole book like this?

Yes. Brief descriptions of the games are at the back of the book and on every single poker room website. If it's really a problem just play a few hundred hands on a play money table of each, you'll get a rough feel for how they differ from holdem.

i really only play hold em but the concepts can be applied to all poker games..when he uses examples to demonstrate his points they are just that but the idea can be applied to other forms of poker
