Rocketwadster 0
Tis a turbo SNG, low $ value buy-in. Very early. Reads are as follows:They are all donkeys!Any two suited cards, any two face cards, any ace, any king (yes, ANY king), etc. from the limited number of hand showndown.Poker StarsNo Limit Holdem TournamentBlinds: t25/t508 playersConverterStack sizes:UTG: t2355UTG+1: t1425MP1: t2515MP2: t1445CO: t1440Hero: t1760SB: t1950BB: t2110Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is Button with [Th] [Td] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls t50 (pot was t75), 2 folds, CO calls t50 (pot was t125), Hero ???Now, I'm definately going to play the hand, but am undecided whether to just limp in, or if I should put in a raise. Neither UTG+1 nor CO have shown a hand as of yet, so I am not 100% certain they are donkeys, but I have my suspicions. SB and BB definately are, as they have both shown hands like the ones I have indicated above. If I raise, I am failry certain that one of the blinds will call, if not both (doubtful they will raise from their play so far unless they woke up with a monster), which will only give the limpers better odds to call as well. Tens will not fare well against multiple opponents, but if I play them for set value only, its hit or fold on the flop.Thoughts on what to do - limp or raise (and if raise, how much). Actuary 3
when you say any ..... You mean what they limp, not what they will call a raise with right ?will they raise premium hands?will they let junk go after the flop?

You mean what they limp, not what they will call a raise with right ?will they raise premium hands?will they let junk go after the flop?Still very early to tell for certain, but if they hit top pair mediocre kicker they are probably going to call a bet IMO. If they miss completely, but have two overcards, they MAY continue as well.
Actuary 3
I probably limp or push against really bad players.Sounds like your implied odds will be nice if you set; but on the other hand, Ax will call a push and that would be good.this early, if I'm truly bette than them, I'll limp to win a huge pot, hopefully.Other, read better, post flop players, may feel comfortable when over cards come to have played this for say 250 preflop. Rocketwadster 0
nobody knows how to play turbos/pocket tens I guess...
psujohn 0
The key read is missing. How do limpers react to a raise? I've been at a table where 4 limpers will fold to a min-raise and tables where a limper will call a 4BB raise with J6s. Normally I don't play turbos. In a regular speed SNG I limp here looking for a set. In a turbo of course you can't be quite as patient. I still think a limp is fine assuming the blinds are going to join us. If any of them are the slightest bit agg or catch a tiny piece you'll have a decent chance to double up. My second choice would be to raise to like 350. A large enough overbet that you'll scare away anyone with less than a bigger pocker pair.
fckthis 0
easy push in a turbo.
BeaverStyle 1
i play turbos a lot.raise anywhere from 4x-8x the bb, and then push a seemingly safe flop
psujohn 0
easy push in a turbo.Just curious but why are people advocating a push given the relatively deep stacks? I don't think we get any more fold equity out of a push vs a raise to 350 or so and we risk running into a monster. Does your turbo strat make you want to get into a coinflip vs AK? Not saying that's a bad thing just wondering.
shpaget 0
Raise it to 300ish - only push if you are terribly unskilled post-flop.
cdipierr 0
I don't play turbos, but I think a push here is correct. The reasoning is this.In 5 minutes (or less) the blinds will be 50/100, which makes our M about 10 if we raise to 300, get a caller and an unfavorable flop (A or K on it). However, if we push here, we might well get called by 99/88, etc. If we're called by AK or AQ, I think that's ok too because we'll probably need a flip at some point in this tournament given the structure. If we raise, we've also setup one of the initial limpers to push over our raise with something like a mid-pair, and then we have a tough decision if we truly think some of these folks are donks.I guess a call is ok too because we'll get paid off on a set, but if we play that way in a turbo and don't get lucky, we'll end up bleeding off all our $$$ w/o ever pushing our edges. Gallo 1
I haven't gotten into the "M" thing yet, but I understand it somewhat (has to do with blinds). Anyway, I'd probably raise it between 200-300. Shoot out a CB (about half the pot if it's HU), if you get called, check the rest of the way or fold to a reraise, you'd still be left with just about 1000 chips, then you can push with your next good hand. iggymcfly 0
Limping is bad and so is pushing. Just make a raise to 250 or so and outplay these "terrible" players postflop. You can handle that right? Tens play bad in a multi-way pot in the sense that you don't want five people seeing the flop for free because someone will likely hit but if you get it down to three players, you're probably in pretty decent shape. Rocketwadster 0
I limped, Sb limped, BB checked, and I had to fold on the flop to a A Q 6 rainbow flop when everyone apparantly caught a piece of that action. My reasoning at the time was that I don't need to start flipping coins with my opponents as of yet, as the blinds aren't that large. Barring a push by me, I am at least 75% certain I would have had at least 2 callers to my raise, which would not have made my work any easier on the flop after committing a large portion of my chips, and even if I had pushed, hands like A-10o, K-Qo, and up would have called me.
