crap, I was hoping they would get rid of this retarded rule. It can't mean anything and you expect every team to be represented (not as big a deal this year as in normal years at least) and you expect the manager to try and get everyone in the game. If it really matter the big boys would be playing the hole game.
any else have any thoughts?

It's a dumb rule. I agree with rotating it every year.

I don't see what the big deal is. The best solution would be to reward the team with the best record, but even that's not ideal. Random, which is rewarding the All-Star game winner, works fine. Alternating years is no different than using the All-Star game.

Yes it is, because AL teams would have homefield advantage every year.

So..you're saying that the best team beats the worse team every single time???? Come on....yeah, the AL is far superior, but that doesn't mean that the NL team can't win one baseball game against the AL......the Royals beat the Yankees in a game one time...doesn't mean they are better. The AL won't have home-field advantage every year...just a greater percentage of the time.

For now. The National League was 24-2-1 from 1959 to 1982 if I tallied that correctly and had a stretch where they were 19-1. I see no reason why it won't shift back at some point. Eventually it should all even out.

I'm in favor of the team with the best overall win total gets homefield if they make it to the world series and if they lose then the next best anywhere.. and so on..
Or just use the interleague stats... Which league won more than the other...

I like either of those solutions better. The advantage of best overall win total meaning something might give teams more to play for down the stretch if they've already clinched everything else.

Plus, what players will really care except those on a few teams that have a realistic chance of making it to October..

well, ozzie doesn't put up with slacking from anybody, plus he's gonna stack the team with white sox players. they'll probably want to win pretty badly.
