T9, Early In Tournament

Recommended Posts

Real early in $50 live tourney - about the 7th hand or so...start with 3000 chips.Blinds 25/25.One limper, I raise with T9s in the cutoff to $150, button raises to $400, BB calls, I call.Flop T96 rainbow - BB checks, I check, button bets $1500, BB folds, I go all in , button calls with QQ.Turn 5River 5Button wins, and I bust out on a hand I deserved to lose, donating all my chips to a pot I had no business playing. So, the question is:Oilers or Hurricanes?

20% of your chips for 10-9---u deservrd to lose
I said "Button wins, and I bust out on a hand I deserved to lose, donating all my chips to a pot I had no business playing"Just wondering if you had anything original to add, or do you just like to see your words in print?btw - 400/3000 is not 20%....nor is 250/2850 (my call vs. my remaining stack)If you're gonna rebuke, at least get the math right...you have a computer...it even has a calculator if you're stumped.

I have no clue what this means (I just woke up, maybe I'll get it later), but I don't think your play is bad. You probably should have just limped PF so you could get out cheap if button raises it up like he did, but your raise is not so bad. As it played you had decent odds IMO to play this hand, especially since button probably has a monster and if you hit the flop you can break him.My only real problem with the play is the flop check-raise. If button happens to have AK or AQ (instead of overpair) he may check the flop. This isn't really a problem because AK/AQ are pretty destroyed by your 2 pair, but it also gives BB a free chance to improve, for example, his 77 or 88. Against just the button I like a check-raise, against 2 players I like a big bet or a push.

don't post results.don't isolate with T9s.big stacks, man, let them in with T9s.FWIW, after the pot is 1200+, I go broke on the flop too.

I actually wasn't looking for advice, I know I ****ed up....it was just a segue into my hockey question.BUT - since you did offer some good advice I will let you know what I was thinking when I raised preflop.I wasn't looking to hit, I was simply looking to represent a big hand, get one caller (maybe two) and then play the flop as if I had an overpair or tptk and see if I could steal it on the flop...I'd have probably done it with J4 - I'll do this in this particular tournament probably once per revolution as the blinds raise every 15 minutes, so after just an hour of play we're already at 200/400.If I hit I hit, great, I'm still (likely at this table) likely to have two people in the pot with me to take their stacks.Once I got raised I was gonna fold, but with one caller, getting 4:1 on my call, I went with it....I check/raised 'cause I was reasonably certain he'd bet at the pot with bigslick, and wanted the extra chips.Strangely, the very hand previous to this a guy with JJ went broke to a guy with T9 who flopped two pair.Anyway, I laughed...I knew he had an overpair when he overbet the pot, and I "knew" he was gonna pair the board to beat me, because poker's fun that way.I went to the cash tables and won a couple hundred bucks to ease my pain.

Houston or Miami? Well Houston are not the Oilers anymore, but the Texans are horrible. So I'm leaning towards the U.
